I walked over to Chickasaw Gardens park to see what it was like. This Memphis city park was well maintained and quite pretty with paved and unpaved trails. The park is surrounded by expensive and well kept homes. Unfortunately, the small lake was covered with algae but there were still a number of ducks swimming about. As I walked around the perimeter of the lake I noticed several people jogging that seemed angry that I was there. I eventually passed by a young man taking photos with his infant child and he was quite friendly in sharp contrast to the uptight attitude...

The wildlife adds a magical touch—spotting ducks & other creatures swimming is such a treat! The park strikes the perfect balance between peaceful and lively, with plenty of walkers and joggers enjoying the scenery. Read moreA beautiful little park hidden away, and potentially to be restricted in the future by securities gates on two (granted there will be other public roads still open but the gates would remove two of 6 and the few that would remain without gates would be more difficult to access than the roads that gate are proposed for) public roads despite the park being paid for by taxpayers and maintained by the city. Great place to go running, or to have a peaceful walk if you're able to get to it...
