Multiple exhibits were being renovated - such as the toy circus display. Fossil and minerals just ok. The primary attraction of the Piggly Wiggly was marred by its tiny size and poor attention to detail. Despite the website there is no clear explanation that there is no public access to the actual mansion which seems to be a rental venue only. The main cash cow is the animated dinosaur display which is dated and unimaginative. However the historic artifacts of early and civil war period were adequate. There are many other attractions and museums throughout Memphis far better curated and maintained. Go elsewhere. With the screaming and running children there is a playground feeling. Vast areas of the museum are closed off for "renovation" supposedly. This museum also has a planetarium and IMAX which if that is what you want, pay for that. There are two Smithsonian affiliated museums in town the like the Civil Rights and Rock and Soul that are far better deserving of your tourist dollar(metal and weapons screening). Locals I asked told me the museum is in financial distress and did not have anything positive to say. Recommendation: call ahead to find out what is actually on exhibit and...
Read moreI got married at the Pink Palace. I was promised renovations would be complete when I signed the contract to book the venue. They were nowhere near complete by my wedding. There was construction going on that they hid with curtains and tons of empty display cases. No one even apologized. They didn’t tell me until MY REHEARSAL that the renovations would not be complete. My wedding coordinator was extremely rude and probably the most lifeless person I’ve ever met, the opposite of what you want on your wedding day. I asked my coordinator for some information regarding music, which he never got back to me on. So, my ceremony music had to be changed just minutes before my wedding. This coordinator actually yelled at me on my wedding day regarding one of the guests, rather than handling the matter himself. The venue was absolutely stunning and the bride / groom quarters were great, but i was beyond disappointed in the staff. With no help to the Pink Palace staff, my wedding day actually turned out great, thanks to my...
Read moreI couldn't highly recommend The Pink Palace enough as a wedding and reception venue. The team's communication couldn't be beat, as they responded quickly to all of my questions along the way. They even went above and beyond in the wedding planning process, helping me set my timeline for the day, offering advice, and recommending visitors. I didn't have to hire a wedding planner, because I felt like the Pink Palace team helped me fill in those gaps any way. They were all kind, friendly, patient, and so on the ball from the time we booked all the way through the end of the party. You won't find a better deal on a venue in town. Their very reasonable fee includes so much that other venues charge extra for or simply don't do. And after the fact, I had tons of wedding guests raving about the venue. They loved the multiple spaces, which was great for allowing the guests who want to chat to go into one area and the ones who want to dance be in another. Booking the Pink Palace for your big day should be...
