I love the Memphis Zoo. The animals are not in cages and have a little space to roam. There is one large arkvark in the animals of the night exhibit in a very small enclosure. He paces back and forth and even stands in his hand legs against the glass. He scratches at the glass as if he wants out of the cramped environment. He appears to have anxiety. I think he needs a bigger enclosure with roaming space. The zoo has beautiful trees and foliage with shady areas to hide from the summer sun. Many enclosed exhibits have interactive panels to read about the animals. There are classrooms for teaching lessons at the zoo. Call prior to set up appointments for your students. Many exhibits have enclosed beautiful lodges and are great for parties, proms, or other events. Call the zoo to inquire how to rent a space for your event. Tuesdays at 2 pm until closing (except March), the zoo has free admission for Tennessee residents with ID. Do go at 2pm. By 4 pm, many animals, such as polar bear, sea lions, and hippos are no longer on exhibit. There are fountains entering the zoo and small children play in the water during summer. It's a great place to just sit and have a late afternoon lunch or stroll on Tuesdays if you're retired and need an outlet to just see people. I wish the afternoon hours were free for 55+ every afternoon. Parking does still cost $5 on Tuesdays. The zoo has other events such as Christmas Zoo Lights and BOO night, etc. The zoo admission price is about $18 for an adult and not much less per child. Other activities such as camel rides, etc. are separate. If you have several children, this is a consideration when outlining your activities budget when visiting Memphis. The Memphis Zoo would be on my places to see and experience list...
Read moreThe zoo is one of the better ones I have seen. It was a chilly day with some sun and many of the animals were out so we could visit with them. The Pandas were very cute and their Chinese pagoda and temple enclosure made one feel as if stepping into China. The panda enclosure was so beautiful and you could see the Pandas thrive there. However, there were some enclosures that made me sad. The rare Komodo Dragons live in a place full of concrete and so do the armadillos and other animals. They are given some sort if cardboard strips for the floor, which probably makes it easier to clean, but I felt many animals did not have any plants ayt all around them and that sure makes for a depressing life. The zoo is large and ee ee about two thirds in the three hours we were there. There is also a little aquarium but it has a good amount of different species including sea horses and cuttle fish, puffer fish and jelly fish. Woth the visit. The elephants, giraffes, hippos and flamingos were all out there. As well as the three lions (one male and two females) sunning on boulders so close to the people it is a sight to see. The gift shops were interesting and the staff all aroun aro warm and friendly.
I will come again on my next...
Read moreOn my way to Atlanta from Nashville TN I started having problems with my 2015 Harley Davidson Road glide, it started to stay stuck in gear once I hit traffic stop and go bumper to bumper traffic. It worse feeling ever in my 20+ years of riding. Called around a few shops no one was available, plus I didn’t want to have just anyone work on my bike. The Harley dealer was unable to see me in a reasonable time. I called Mr Diaz and he not only went over the possible problems he put my mind at ease with his concern about my situation. He scheduled me in the next morning and too care of the issue plus pointed out a few other issues that needed attention which he also did his best to remedy. I was only in Atlanta for three days . He called the following day to make sure I wasn’t having any issues for my ride home. I can’t thank him enough . I not only made it home safely, the bike rode flawlessly. In addition his repairs cost was reasonable. If you’re a rider you know having a breakdown can be stressful. My experience with Mr Dias was a great one, so much so I plan on checking in with him the next time I ride to Atlanta. I am a firm believer in giving someone praise when it’s due . Great guy excellent...
