I went up there to see Colony House this past Saturday and everything was great till I went to get my check. The bartender I had been ordering from throughout the night was really busy so I asked this lady that was behind the bar thinking she could help me only thing I said ā€œHey, excuse me. When you get a minute I just need my check.ā€ She looked at me with a very unpleasant look and said sternly ā€˜I’ll be with you in a minute’.

They both went on checking out other people that came up to the bar after me and the lady was just looking at me as they were checking out people instead of me. My girlfriend came up cause she saw what was going on and the lady went to her and started serving my girlfriend instead of me cause she didn’t know we were together.

When my girlfriend said she was with me the lady looked at both of us and then said to us ā€˜I said I would be with him in a minute’ and just stopped helping her. It was mind blowing that one of your employees could be so rude and so disrespectful. The guy that was the bartender that I had been ordering from that night finally stepped in and got us checked out cause at that point it was about to be a big issue.

If you are wondering the lady that I am talking about had brown hair and was thin, I think she had glasses but not 100% on that.

I have been to your establishment many times and never experienced anything like that. I would hope that you read this message and take some disciplinarian action against this person cause I will not be back after this. Best of luck to you all and maybe try to hire...

I paid a $10 cover to get inside this place tonight. The show was amazing, the bathrooms were nice and clean, there were tables and surfaces to set things down on that looked nice. The overall human traffic flow was good. But the bar was awful. While everyone was getting served around me, both times I went to the bar to try to order a drink I never got served. I waited over 10 minutes each time. The first time I went, I waited with my friend to order a drink for over 10 minutes. Then another friend came up for us and ordered everything within 1 minute. The next time I tried to order a drink I must have waited over 15 minutes. I literally laid across the bar with my arms (REALLY). I did everything I could to get one of the 4 bartenders’ attention. Everyone around me was getting served in under a minute. The guy next to me thought my waiting was ridiculous too. I waited a full 15 minutes and NEVER got served. My friends eventually came to get me because the band was on its last song by that point, and I was never actually served at this venue. Not even once. My one friend who was lucky enough to get served bought all of our group's drinks. I paid $10 to enter this place, had a great time, but was never allowed to spend more of my money here because I was ignored every single time. This is unacceptable. Please get better bartenders who actually notice customers. I know I am not the only one. I live in this neighborhood and I like to patronize local businesses. But I don’t know that I would come back here because the...

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, DO NOT GO THERE...... We got there at 9:30, our drinks did not come till 10:00. our Hooka did not come till 10:15.. Wait let me take you back, I asked for something hot, which i had there before "hot tea" the waitress said we don't have that, I said i had it before she said "oh really" well we don't have it.. Then I said alright coffee, she said oh we don't serve coffee, then she changed her words and said no one on this shift knows how to work the Coffee machine. then the hooka comes, and we were literally choking, and pulling so hard felt my lungs were coming out, so we told her hey the hooka is very hard to pull in, she calls "the hooka guy"... He comes not knowing what he is doing.. Let me tell you i came from a hooka background, i know my hooka.. so I told him it needs water, he kept playing around with it for 10 mins... anyways he finally put more water, comes back with a lie saying "i flushed it out" and now it should be good.. (ummm you don't flush a hooka out you either add water or pore water out).... anyways i said it fine we have work tomorrow let me just get the check, we get the check he is charging us 27.00$ for it, WE DID NOT SMOKE AT ALL NOT ENJOYED IT. so I talk to them, and I told him do you think it's fair to charge us almost 30$ for something was completely Horrible.... they ended up charging us half of it which is still ridiculous.. but guess who just lost a business and will...

Growlers has a dark, gritty atmosphere that matches many of the bands who play there. The aesthetic is solid, with a somewhat "hole in the wall" feel to it. Typical for such concert venues is the excessively loud speakers that make it painful on the ears and impossible to talk to others, much less hold a conversation. The staff can barely hear you if you shout at them, so just type what you want into your phone and show it to the bartender. Bring a pair of earplugs! Tickets can generally be purchased online beforehand or at the door. The online processing fee makes prices comparable for whichever option you choose. There are only a few tables and barstools, but most people choose to stand. There's no mosh pit, but the area closest to the band usurps the role of a pit well enough. The drink selection is solid, including a few canned wine and seltzer options. Prices are not too expensive. There are a few food options for those looking to slow the absorption of the alcohol, but don't expect anything fancy. The kitchen closes well before the end of the shows, as is customary. There is a covered open-air rear area for hanging out, smoking, and vaping. Somebody is always smoking weed, so be ready for that smell. My main suggestion for all these types of venues is always the same: turn the speakers down! They are so loud that it distorts the music and bleeds the ears. Otherwise it's a great place for small-venue concerts.

Look growlers may be a small venue and the parking may suck but nothing beats their shows. They have amazing artists that show up and do awesome jobs. I've only had good experiences there. You're up close and personal with the band you may even get lucky enough to meet one face to face. Even if you're way back in the bar area they have great sound quality , the food is good. The price of booze and liquor are some what good and a great patio area to chill if you want to get out and get some fresh air also, the staff is pretty chill

This is a very good venue, but to take it over the top they need to eliminate the negative space: either wall off the closet behind the pinball room or open it up to more floor/seating space. Then, either go all in in the pool room with another table or two, and maybe a live feed of the stage, or, again, open to more seating. EDIT: My trip last week to see the Melvins reveals a lot of good changes! Growlers is one of the best venues in the city!!!
