Mercer Island Farmers Market — Attraction in Mercer Island

Good variety of items for a small farmers market. Pickles, bagels, donuts, flowers, produce, meat, hummus, baskets, pastries, BBQ, etc. I enjoyed both the bagels and the hummus. Kids loved the donuts.

Little music stage and a few tables and chairs in front of the stage. Green park right there with a playground for the kids. No clear spot for parking, but we found a street spot not too far away. No dogs are allowed at the market, but plenty of dogs seem to hang out "around" the market. Definitely a strange policy. Don't get me wrong, the vendors are great - most of them are the same ones we have at our Columbia City market! We love supporting farmers markets and the vendors, however we had an unfortunate experience with a rude women at the Information booth simply because we had our dog. Apparently dogs are not allowed and unless you happen to see a sign they will rudely run you out of the market - even though there were several other dogs there. Great vendors and hot food options with a nice park to eat in. Easy parking and convenient to grocery stores to get items you can't find at the market. I discovered a new vendor there, Wendi farms, who sells blueberries and Ugandan vanilla. I chatted with the owner Tibs for over half an hour. The vanilla is sourced from the coffee/vanilla farm in Uganda that he grew up on. 2% of proceeds go to Uganda School Project. He is just a fascinating and wonderful human.
