CLARKE & CLARKE Art + Artifacts — Attraction in Mercer Island

Very disappointed. I've never been treated so rudely by dealers of art in my years of collecting. I was quoted one price and when I questioned whether it was correct or not, the gentleman snapped at me and stated "they weren't that kind of business ", and walked away from me. I was made to feel stupid for even asking such a thing. I'm not sure where that came from, or what that even means, but I was simply asking a question for clarity. I drove an hour to buy a beautiful item, I wasn't a tire kicker or wasting anybodys time. I am serious buyer, dealer and collector. I refuse to do business with people who treat customers in such a manner. Truly disappointing. I would like to add to my review by saying that Mrs. Clarke did issue me an apology via text message on behalf of her husband. I appreciate the effort. But it doesn't excuse the way I was treated. Nor does it make me ever want to do business...

The art and antiquities in this gallery have been collected with great taste by Jim & Ginny Clarke whose knowledge of world-wide artifacts and antiquities and their cultural and historical significance is both amazingly broad and amazingly deep. This is my wife's and my favorite store of this type in the entire Pacific Northwest. It is a very unique and special place and I can't recommend it...

The owners of this establishment are extremely rude and were clearly annoyed and bothered by basic and simple customer inquiries. They failed to make accommodations (such as unwrapping a $600+) dollar artifact so we could see it before purchasing.
