You have to pay the day rate or have a state park pass. Of course, they will sell you a pass as well.
It is a nice little park. It has lots of shade as well as a large open grass area in front of the lake. There are sidewalks everywhere, including next to the water's edge. If I had a disabled friend or relative, I would take them here.
There are modern bathrooms in the middle of the park with a concession window. You can rent or reserve(I don't know which) pavilions with barbecues. You can rent peddle or small aluminum boats. There is a fishing dock at the end farthest away from the dirt parking lot. There is a nice wooden playground for younger kids.
The best part for families is the wading/swim area in the lake. It is very shallow with a nice sandy bottom. Perfect for toddlers or younger kids. You can set your picnic up on the grass next to the sidewalk that borders the lake. The kids can walk across three feet of sidewalk, then step down six inches into the the water's edge. Not any extras for older kids except for the big grassy area for frisbee, ladder bar, corn hole, etc.. If you are not bringing Middle or High Schoolers, this...
Read moreLake Lansing Park is a great family retreat - especially during those hot summer days! There are plenty of places for families and groups to get together for picnics, barbecues, and fun games such as volleyball. Lake Lansing itself provides an opportunity to get into the water to cool off, but there is no full-time lifeguard on duty. An area of shallow water has been designated, and people on the beach there have an opportunity to watch occasional sailboats and small motor boats pass by at a safe distance.
There is an admission fee for those who do not have Ingham county Park stickers and passes. It presently ranges up to $5 per car per admission.
The people generally are orderly, well-behaved and everyone seems to be minding their own business and not causing disturbances or annoyances to others.
There is a small concession stand selling basic goodies such as ice cream, pop, etc. Public bathrooms are of course available at no charge and are generally...
Read moreHad a friends daughters graduating party here. 3 of us met up here who were all friends in high school. Spent 3 hours talking about the old days and the exciting stuff we were still doing today. Take time to meet friends and family in places like this. 3 months later we lost Chris. Was not even 50. Good shape. Fell dead of heart attack mowing the grass on his farm. I'm too busy. I dont have time. I dont like his wife. He always dresses funny. His dog is ugly. People all make excuses to NOT go to these things but it's the people that matter. The little things. Take time to take the photos and the video and to eat and laugh and be with your friends and family. It was not gee I should of gone and seen Chris or I should of done this. All we talked about was the great time we had here at the park and the party just a few months earlier....we made our own last fond memory of our great friend Chris and we never ever thought it would be the last...
