AMAZING DOG PARK! I rarely see doggie doo around because people are good and pick up their pets mess. Sometimes there is doo, but it is usually when the owner is distracted and doesn't see their pet poopin'. The Bark Park employees are good at coming behind and cleaning up any random droppings. I don't worry that my pet will step in other doo, and lack of doo keeps the flies at bay in the summer.
Furthermore, they always have training toys for full interactive physical challenges if you have an extremely active dog. Often, but not always, the provide tennis balls for playing with your pet. My Leeloominai loves to chase the tennis balls.
The park is large, has plenty of water for the dogs and covered and uncovered benches for the humans. They always provide poopie bags for pet messes. There is a lengthy side walk/walking path around the center play area, so the humans can track their dogs play location and get exercise too.
I use the All Dogs side, but if you have a small animal, they have a connected but separate side called The Small Dogs Side. Both areas are completely fenced in, and the grass is never unkempt or dry. I wish my grass at home looked that good.
The disabled parking is RIGHT IN FRONT, unlike some restaurants who put disabled parking on the side making some, who can't walk well, walk further while they have 10 minute "To Go/Pick Up" parking in front. In addition, the front area has CLEAN, OPEN restrooms for humans.
Last but not least, the dog owners (in the usual Idaho way)... are pleasant and easy to strike up a conversation with. I have never felt unsafe or uncomfortable there. When someone leaves a leash or harness behind, dog owners will hang them on the fence near the enterance so they can be found easier if they come back to get them.
And before I forget, in the summer they fill up kid pools so the dogs can play in the water or to get a drink. It's so much fun to watch others dogs sit in the pools, blow nose bubbles, and stomp their feet and splash around.
Oh! And... I love the All Dogs double gated entry area. Going through the first gate gives you a chance to unleash your pet and get organized before going through the second gate which is the entry to the park. This feature also keeps pets from slipping out of the gate straight into the parking lot. If you have an escapee, you have control over the other pets safety. The pet is unable to get out, and with encouragement, or their owners command, they just prance back in the main area like they are thinking "Just kidding!", "Made you look!", "Thanks man, that was sketchy for a minute there" or my favorite... "That's right, just checking to see if you were paying attention!". Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?
They are open all year 'round. My service dog and I LOVE this park. I hope you have as much fun...
Read moreBeen refraining from doing this but oh well, changing my rating and review. This park was once great brought my dachshund who is 6 this year many many times never an issue everyone loves him, he is quiet and friendly and a joy. A old lady with a thick accent one morning decided as soon as I walked through the gate to tell me her dog was aggressive to dogs like mine so I needed to leave, I said no very sternly no this is for all dogs and she should leave if he is aggressive. She told me no I need to leave the park is not for all dogs.. weird the sign says so, so does the web. So I went on my way not knowing she was going around telling the "everyday" people how my dog and I are aggressive. I heard her telling one man so I rushed over to tell him I am the accused, and then another man came over and they all were telling me to leave because my dog is aggressive and to take him to the little park, I have PTSD/Anxiety... I do not do well being backed into a corner, these two men believed this old lady with an accent and just went at me. These people think they own this park and can tell people who they don't like to leave, WHO HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG! So to the 2 men and that old lady... f off, I will treat you how you treated me.. you had no respect nor did you know who you were attacking and why... get the full story next time instead of an immediate attack and telling me to leave because you are there "Everyday". You don't own the park. Never again, done with these people, and one of the men has seen me and my dog MANY times, so not sure what his deal was except the old lady was his friend so her lies...
Read moreGo here. Simple as that. If you have a non agressive, healthy dog, that is. You get to have conversations with other dog owners who actually love their dogs as much as you love yours! Your dog will get to socialize, make new friends, and play their little hearts out. My dog never ceases to pass out on the drive home after a day at Storey Bark Park. It is vital for well-functioning dogs to be around other dogs in a playful and educational setting. You can see in their eyes and expressions that they are learning from the environment. However, if you have an aggressive dog or ill dog--please skip the park until those behaviors/illness are fixed completely. We dont need dogs hurt. There are some issues that, if resolved, would make the park much better: more trees and shade areas are needed (it gets too hot to go in the summer) and the little dog area didnt get as many agility toys or near as much space as it shouldve. They could fix this by simply removing the gravel and adding sod and more shaded seating instead because no one plays in the gravel and it traps poop and pee. Also, Meridian Speedway visitors will take all the parking spots--even park in the disabled parking when they arent disabled. Lastly, owners need to clean up after their dogs and watch their dogs. Especially in the big dog area. Being at the dog park doesnt mean u get to take ur eyes off ur dog and not clean up! Other than that, it's a really fun place for...
