As a teacher,(my husband is a health-care provider) I always look forward to a week-long vacation with my family in the summertime. We drive from Portland to a Lake in Idaho where we enjoy a week of much-needed relaxation. We normally stay at the Best Western Vista in near the Boise Airport, but chose the Best Western Plus in Meridian this time. We are rewards members and find Best Westerns are convenient, reasonably priced, and serve a lite breakfast. This particular hotel also has a pool which is nice in the mornings, after a long drive, the night before. Now, on to the negative, DISGUSTING part of the trip... As the last person into bed after a midnight arrival, I turned all the lights off and climbed into the bed for some much-needed rest. Imagine the HORROR in the morning, (7:30-ish) when I woke up and found a disgusting sheet below me, with a 4-5 inch in diameter stain with someone's leftover bodily fluids and an accompanying spot of crusty black/brown stuff on the blanket above. I was sick to my stomach, and got up, showered, and then found the housekeeper in the hallway to show her what was on the bed. The housekeeper acknowledged how gross it was, and said she was glad it wasn't her room to clean the day before. She suggested I go to the front desk, which of course, I was already planning to do. The front desk girl looked sweet, but was obviously trained to stall and to brush off the types of situations, as she acted like I was the one with the problem, and was totally nonchalant, about the incident. The manager wouldn't be in "for two days," and I was out of luck. I asked for the head housekeeper, and she stated that she "double-checks all the sheets," and I must be mistaken. Seriously, they think this is super fun for me...So, I showed them the pictures from the bed that I had taken, as the head housekeeper offered a weak apology. So, I then asked for the manager's email, phone info, etc. I have emailed, called, etc., with no response from the manger. The employees are, obviously, well-trained on how to extinguish customer complaints and manager responsibility.... just don't respond at all!! : / I know it can be hard for some people to admit fault and to make a situation right, when you believe you do a great job with everything, but when you fail to acknowledge an issue, you can't correct it within house, and this is a hospitality industry! It is bad form in every way... dirty room, bad service, and ignoring problems. Due to a lack of response, I filed a formal complaint with Best Western Corporate to get any type of response from the manager. The manager said he would do nothing, and offered no apology. Thank goodness, the corporate office was professional, apologetic, and understanding, and seemed embarrassed by the manager's response. They offered me enough points on my rewards for a free night of stay on another upcoming travel. In all of my many years of travel, I have never encountered such DISGUSTING ACCOMMODATIONS , and POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE from a hotel, and that is saying something, as I worked for a hotel chain many years ago while in college, and usually stay 5-15 nights in a hotel each year.
My recommendation is to stay at the Best Western near the airport, or choose another hotel, since there are so many others to choose from in the area. Imagine what you can't see that is left on bedding from lazy, or under-trained house-keepers, AND poor management. The motto for this hotel should be, "What you don't know, won't hurt you. We don't...
Read moreI have to shout from the mountain tops about Best Western Plus. I want the owner to know too, that your team here is the "mostest" and "bestest" and incredible people.I had come before and returned. However, it is after I came back that it is crucial. Best western Plus and the people from the housekeepers were exquisitely incredibile. When I was placed here I was placed in a safe, secure and clean place. I can work here and heal and write grants.I am going back to finish my degree in teaching after many years! Many years of being in a real Cinderella story. I just have a year and a half and came here to write and raise money for school and help a friend who is getting married. The housekeepers to the front deskers, from Mr. Mike the TV guy to Linda, our Breakfast girl and everyone I know on this part of my journey, in this place are incredible optimistics. Their individuality of each person collectively demonstrates a heart of love and kindness. Thank you!!!. They were hospitable, engaging, focused, caring and concerned not just for the guests' rooms but also the people individually and collectively from all walks of life. I have seen our front desk girls and boys from all backgrounds be genuine, exceptionally caring, engaging, listening but hearing, even with complaints. They are actually gracious and sincere, accommodating and problem solving. Strategically accessing and applying needs for their guests and their guests loving dogs from all walks of life, here at Best Western plus. They are a team and actually do their "Best" For their people and guests, to make it safe, clean and secure. Not only for me coming from a situation. I needed to be protected. But all families, workers...and many other people; who come for respite, relaxation, and to rejuvenate. To also laugh, enjoy and live an incredible life. Making a place to create moments and memories; as I hear the echoes of children laughing through the hallways, and moms and dads of all backgrounds, single or married, having time with their kids and family. And workers, a place to rest, rejuvenate, and refresh. It is all Good!!! And I thank you for your incredible true hearts for all people from different lives. Thank you for the gift of living in a safe and good place. Thank you!!! (Yes, my grammar and choice of words may not be correct or perfect. Sorry to all those who are gifted...
Read moreWe're delighted to stay at the Meridian Best Western. We've been here for 3 nights now and it has been a wonderful experience.
After a 12-hour journey, from Seattle / Everett area, we finally arrived close to midnight and we're greeted very warmly. There was also other people checking in at the same time. Alli at the front desk was very, very helpful and friendly. Helped us up to our room with our bags as we were a couple of older ladies and had trouble in managing our stuff but it was easily taken care of and we were tucked into bed soon.
I really enjoyed the breakfast bar. A wide selection. One day I had waffles. Another day I had biscuits and gravy and third day I had eggs and sausage. With a variety of a specialty drinks available including cappuccino or mocha, hot cocoa, French vanilla. I tried a variety. There's also fresh fruit juice and tea as well as regular cereals, and breads, fruit, and oatmeal. Amparo and Linda kept the dining room in good order.
The place is very clean. Thank you Isaiah and Mark.
The indoor temperature was well controlled even though it was hot outside at 75° + in early April. Staff showed us how to use aircon, so we came back to cool room. Tess checked on us to give more towels and see if we needed anything.
We would definitely stay here again. It was such a relief to be able to come back here. Night after night.
We were able to visit friends and family. And we found this location very convenient to both family and also downtown Boise, where we did some adventures to MK nature center and Boise River green belt. We really appreciate that. It was so close to the freeway and yet far enough back that it was very quiet. It was easy to find and just off the freeway especially when coming in so late at night. We were really glad that it was just hassle-free to just drive on up and come on in.
Could not find available accessible parking space at anytime, so we parked around the back side of the hotel near the elevator and it turned out to be even more convenient than anything out front. So I'd highly recommend that you just drive around to the back and park near the front of the building opposite the front desk and use the door next to the elevator for easy access. They should add a disability parking spot there.
Thank you for being part of a wonderful memory....
