I DO NOT enjoy leaving bad reviews but I want to save people from the frustrations I experienced and this one just knocks it out of the park. Yeah the prices are great but I can only assume that it’s near spoiled food. The racheté they were selling expired WEEEEEKS before hand so I immediately put those back. I got home and not even 24hrs later HALF of my produce is gone. My avocados that were perfectly fine when I purchased already had mold and BLACK on the inside. I tried to scoop it out but it was every where. One was so moldy it was on my counter. The strawberries had mold, half the mangoes went bad, and my sour dough bread was SOUR to the point that I literally spit it out. I tried another slice and threw the whole loaf away. My 10 bunch of GREEN bananas were already yellow and some were already brown and I have no idea if I can eat them all in time as I bought them for my son that I see in 3 days. I can’t get my money back and I’m livid. I LOVE sourdough and eat it weekly. This was putrid. I’ll never come back for perishable items. Ever. Tortillas that were marked FRESH actually aren’t. FRESH tortillas don’t last 6 weeks. Might as well have gotten them from a box store. I’m giving 2 stars because items like the Boost drinks, HOPEFULLY the 2lbs of frozen hamburger will be good, the honey was awesome from Ross the gentlemen that does in store samples, the Celsius energy drinks, my spaghetti squash seems good and the grapes and blackberries. I’m shocked and severely disappointed. I went the day before, 11/2, to shop around without knowing that the double up coupons didn’t start until the following day. I’m already embarrassed that I have to ask for them since I’m out of my SNAP and HUNGRY. She was so disgustingly rude that I CRIED as I went to my car. I WILL update with her name and talk to management because I’ve never been so embarrassed in my life. Thankfully the next day, 11/3, when I was now informed properly of the double up coupons, I went to check out and this woman was amazing. Purely amazing. She was so warm and friendly which I will update with her name as well. Her kindness and graciousness is the other reason I gave 2 stars. I’ll try the other Ranch Market and hoping that it’s a different experience but...
Read moreThis place is great, as long you know what to expect. You are going to get a great selection of cheap produce that oftentimes would not be fit for display at a major chain market. For example, you are rarely going to see plump, perfectly formed bell peppers here -- go to a major chain and pay $1-$2 each if that's what you are looking for. What you are more likely to find at SS Ranch Market is 6 for $1 bell peppers (I've seen them go 10 for $1) that are small, asymmetrical, etc.
If you are hoping to dip your food in wax and display it, don't shop here. If you, like me, prefer eating your food and not overpaying for it, this is the place to go. We have filled a cart to the brim with produce -- granted, the carts are on the small side -- and paid under $10 on multiple occasions. Hands down, this should be the first place to stop for fruits and vegetables. Save the chain market for things you can't find in stock at SS Ranch Market.
One final note: You will often see killer prices on strawberries here, but you will want to plan on eating/freezing them within a day or two. They are very economical, but usually nearing the end of their shelf life. If you want to keep strawberries in the fridge for a week or so, don't buy them here, at least not when they are on sale for super cheap. I have not noticed unreasonably short shelf lives with any of the other produce here, just the...
Read moreHave always loved the value and selection of these farmer's markets. This one is open early (7:30) and all week rather than just on weekends. The selection is great and very little off the produce is overripe or bad. Prices are phenomenal! For the items I bought, my total was $21.15. I compared the same quantity and items to Walmart prices on the same day and it totalled $66.80 approximately! Be sure to only expect items that are in season, but you can select from the preserved items like nuts, jams, seasonings, refrigerated goods like tofu and fresh noodles and cheeses. There are workers everywhere checking stacks of produce, assisting customers, and constantly restocking. This was a wonderful experience with no downsides. I don't think there is a restroom, or one that was visibly obvious to me. Handicapped individuals will find there it's plenty of room in every aisle and no steps or ramps needed to enter the store. Carts are available outside, and they currently still provider plastic bags for your items but highly encourage bringing reusable bags or...
