So I gave the main result a 4/5 because I generally go to the location on 19th Ave. We'd gone to the new location out in Mesa with great hopes, buttt were left a bit deflated. My friend wanted to go because it was her bday. When we arrived, it wasn't that many people there. There was no one at the front to greet you nor any sign to say seat yourself. Another friend of ours had arrived first, and she stated she waited for about 5-10 min near the door before someone approached her. When we arrived, we saw her immediately but waited a few minutes before just walking over to her and seating ourselves.
The atmosphere was cool. Definitely something that could turn into a real nice spot given the right work. The Dj stayed until 1pm and then they just played music from a Playlist or station.
The waitress wore a smile, but wasn't very familiar with the menu or rules so my assumption was she was new new... maybe to the waitress role as well as we didn't see much of her throughout our time eating. It seemed everyone, 🤔 all the workers, except an older lady, stayed in the back/ cook space. When I asked for help, the older lady assisted and another worker.
The friend who was first to arrive was doing her raw diet, however, due to it being a special occasion, was going to break it a bit. She looked over the menu hoping to find some veggies that could be put together and spiced up. When asked about this, the waitress brought someone out to assist her. She/we weren't provided any suggestions so she ended up asking for tomatoes and onions that they could season with some spices, and the greens. (This would be her meal). They brought out a small side dish with like 2-3 pieces/slices of tomatoes and onions bare. When asked about seasoning it, they said there was no real seasoning they could think to use other than lemon pepper. We also inquired about the greens and she got a side order of those. I wish I'd taken a pic of her "dish" but I was more worried about trying to get her some more food lol.
The food was ok. I'd gotten breakfast with a side of catfish and the bday girl got the catfish meal. When my meal came out, we saw they had some fresh fruit so we asked if my friend could have a bowl of that as well. Another side dish appeared. The bday girl and I both live closer to their location on 19th Ave & Greenway, so we said we'll stick to the 19th Ave location instead of driving 45 minutes, lol. Perhaps I'll go back after some time had passed and...
Read moreI hate giving Momma 3 stars but I have to be honest.
For a population of over 500,000+ people, Mesa really doesn't have many "good" eating establishments, if any at all. Momma's southern comfort food sure was a welcoming sight when we read about the grand opening. With that being said, the food here is very delish! The best mac n cheese I have had in ages. The pork chops are prepared perfectly. My husband said the pot roast was better than mine. LOL! Since its opening, we have been twice. The first time we went was around 11:15am. There were 2 tables of 2, 1 table of 1, and a table of 6. I ordered the pork chop meal, my husband the 2 pc chicken meal. It took one hour and 3 minutes after ordering to receive our meal. During that time our beverages were only refilled once. There were 2 servers on the floor and one bartender. The second time we went was around 12:30. There were 4 tables of 2. We ordered the pork chop meal, pot roast meal, and 2 pc chicken meal. This time it took 45 minutes from the time we ordered to the time we received our meals. Our drinks remained empty for a long period of time because our server did not check on us. Luckily, we are all retired and are not on a time restriction. However, I cannot imagine anyone coming here on their lunch hour because of the lengthy wait. One thing to keep in mind is that if you are on a fixed budget the prices may be a bit on the pricey side (approx $25/pp drink extra) . My husband told me that he will not come back. He said the wait was unjustifiable considering the small amount of customers that were inside. I, myself, may try one more time in a couple of weeks to see if the wait time decreases. I would like to sample some more menu items. The food that I did have was so yummy.
Just have to mention, it was quite warm inside. Almost to the point of feeling...

My daughter and I were looking for a good brunch place this weekend, and found Mommas's Soul Fish & Chicken on Instagram.
Insta advised they offer brunch and $12 Mimosa Flights. Sounded like a good deal and food, plus supporting the business.
We took an Uber there, its pretty far into Gilbert.
We went around lunch time, on a Sunday.
We were seated right away, however here's where it took a turn:
waitress right away, advised they didn't have specific food items, and the list kept growing.
It took 30mins to take our drink order and an hour to get them.
The waitress finally took our food order eventually, almost 2hrs after arriving. The place wasn't crowded at all.
We were told that they do not offer Happy Hour and they do not offer the Mimosa Flights, those are for special occasions.
Then they need to check their social media, because that's not what it advertised.
The atmosphere, seemed a little off, I liked the look of the place, the music was very low and random. we just kind of sat in silence waiting on our food/drinks. After about 3 hrs and being told it still wasn't, ready, WE were ready to leave and did. As we advised the missing waitress, we were not going to be staying and will not pay for the food (which we found out hadn't even been started yet?!) They only charged for our drinks. We left, as this waste of time and money.
We did appreciate the owner coming outside and explaining the situation to us, wish they had said something sooner.
Would I go back, probably not, as it was pretty far, and not a big fan of going to Gilbert. And just the overall experience, as my 1st time there.
Does this place have...
