I made a Quick stop in Metropolis, Illinois which bills itself as the Hometown of Superman. My First top was at the 15-foot tall Superman Statue that stand on the Town Square. Metropolis is a small town and we was plenty of free on street parking all around the Statue. There are a number of business scattered throughout the downtown area that embrace the Superman theme. During my visit there were a few other tourist at the statue and we all waited our turn to take the required selfie. Once you finish at the Superman Statue, be sure to walk a couple of block north to the and grab your selfie at the Lois Lane Statue. Also directly across from the Superman Statue is the Superman Gift Shop and Museum that is well worth a quick visit. All total I spent about an hour walking around the small downtown area. It was a unique and very enjoyable stop.

I thought it was great that there is a real city called Metropolis, that is the actual home of Superman. Also that there is a huge statue of Superman on the town square. With that said, it seems that they would capitalize much more on the Metropolis theme. Maybe, a hero themed hotel, or Lex Luther's diner. Jimmy Olsen's photo studio. Something with the Daily Plant. Such as Perry White treasure hunt via a downloadable app. The could also convert some local empty building to the Hall of Justice. However, there are really only three things to see of interest to day trippers; 1. The Statue of the man of steel, 2. The museum. 3. The rather small statue of Lois Lane. After that you are left with the feeling "OK what else?" I don't know, some low cost addition should be added. Oh also the Man of Steel was in need of an touch up.

I was looking on Google maps for somewhere to go for a day trip on the motorcycle. Metropolis, IL and the World's Largest Superman popped up. My wife and I hopped on the bike and 2.5hrs and 124ish miles later we were in Metropolis. After a root beer float at the local Dairy Queen we rode to the town center and were greeted by a 15' statue of the Man of Steel, ironically made out of bronze! There was also a very cool Superman/DC shop and museum on the square. We toured the museum, which is loaded with tons of Superman memorabilia from the original comics, TV show to the latest movies. Toys, photos, movie props and costumes. Everything an American and a Superman fan could want. It's a fun landmark to see if you are in the neighborhood or within a couple of hours or are a fan of Superman. Nice town as well.

Stopped by the World’s Largest Superman Statue in Metropolis, IL, and it did not disappoint! It’s such a fun and quirky roadside attraction—perfect for a quick stretch or some superhero selfies. The statue itself is impressive—towering over the town square with that iconic cape flying behind him. The area is super clean and well kept, and there’s even a little Superman museum and gift shop nearby if you’re into comic book history. Parking was easy, the vibe was cheerful, and it’s just one of those places that makes a road trip feel like an adventure. Totally worth a 15–30 minute stop if you’re passing through. Pro tip: Don’t miss the Lois Lane statue down the block!

S u p e r MAN is pretty ginormous. No lies about it! I never knew this statue even existed! Here you go folks... I have photo evidence now. Ha. I got to witness kids having so much fun taking pictures. The same goes with adults. They were laughing and enjoying this giant Superman statue as well. *Their laughter filled the air as the wind blew ever so lightly. Fluffing their hair all about while giggles and laughter faded off into the allies. I could hear little pitter pattering of their feet fading as car doors started to slam. The cars drove away and with a quickness, it was quiet again. It was Giant Superman and myself again. Too cool.

OMG … I feel like a kid again, lol Absolutely love Superman … I even wore my Superman beanie 😊 We walked around Metropolis, Illinois and absolutely enjoyed it. Awesome little downtown … Be sure to drop in Sissy’s Shoppe … They have some amazing coffee I wish an investor would swoop in and renovate the closed down movie theater and show all the Superman movies and cartoons … They could also renovate one of the closed down building in downtown and turn it into an arcade center like Galloping Ghost Really nice little town … We will definitely walk around here again if we ever find ourselves in Metropolis, Illinois again 😊
