Hey fellow travelers and superman fans! So side note we have 3 boys, this is definitely a fan favorite. The gift shop is right next door to the museum itself. The museum is wonderful, from the iconic first release of superman to the newest era. The gift shop wad amazing they had everything for children and adults alike! Its definitely a quaint little spot and we'll definitely be back. Some of our favorite things from the gift shop were the dresses(infant to womens) and of course the classic souvenir pennies. We collect the pennies everywhere we go and its kind of our little family thing because its just so inexpensive and its a fun keepsake for the whole family. Their bathroom is located in the back of the store I suggest using the restroom before you arrive due to the fact that they have a small section for their extra items and what not, and I am an adult women and could barely make it through without going ooo and ahhh or trying my best not to touch anything lol. My son's picked out a few comics from their beautiful selection and it was really just a cute, and great spot. The museum itself cost $8 a person we unfortunately were unable to make it in there but that just gives us an excuse to go back. Hope this helps. Be...
ย ย ย Read moreIf you're in the area and want to see something novel for a bit you can come down and see the giant statue of Superman. I've driven past several times in my life and never stopped in. The statue itself isn't that fascinating. It's a statue of Superman which is exactly what you signed up for when you came down.
There is a museum nearby with a souvenir shop and a decent amount of cool memorabilia from the shows and movies. If you're a huge superman fan it's definitely worth checking out. The tour is $8/person and takes about 20-30 minutes to walk through if you stop and look at each item and read the signs. It's a neat thing to stop in and look at if you are in the area, but I wouldn't drive well out of the way to see it.
That said, the folks who manage and curate the museum definitely put a lot of effort into it so if you're a big fan it's 100% worth seeing if you happen to be nearby.
Shame Google only asked about the statue and not the...
ย ย ย Read moreThe whole story of the Statue makes me sad more than it inspires me.
We come on eclipse Monday, and all in all, it is wonderful. There are hundreds of people there to watch the moon ๐ do a totally pass over the sun, and maybe only 15 people in line to get their photo taken in front of the statue.
It seems tall enough, and big enough, even though I have a small thought in the back of my mind to Google whether it truly is the largest. The most jarring part of the day comes 10 or 15 minutes later.
As we drive out of town towards the eclipse, right after the statue, we see a grocery store and pull in. Find experience there, the noteworthy part for this review is the Big John statue out front.
The sizes seemed similar enough, but when I looked it up later, I find it surprising and disappointing that it's 26 ft tall compared to the Superman statue's 15 ft height maybe...
