Metropolis, IL, is a small town, but Bridge’s Dining Company, located in Harrahs Casino hotel, has a big city feel. The lights are low, there’s piped in piano music, cloth napkins and tablecloths, excellent service and very good food. The dinner menu is pricey with a good selection of steaks, chops and pasta but I was able to have a perfectly seasoned burger, a giant stack of fries and very good iced tea for $20. The burger was topped with grilled onions, candied bacon, and a special sauce and served on a bun that the Harrahs chain undoubtedly special orders for its restaurants. I’ve never eaten one quite that good anywhere else. Another burger is topped with breaded and fried onion petals. They also serve a huge slice of four-layer carrot cake that is delicious but pricey ($12). The restaurant is small but it's a class act. Don’t like gambling? No problem. You don’t have to enter the casino to enjoy...
Read moreI'll say right up front that I don't care much for going out to restaurants. I prefer to eat at home or, if I must, just grab something quick at a fast food place. Frankly, the first couple of meetings I just ate at home first and then just sat with the group at the restaurant. Then the first time we went to Bridges Dining Company I decided to quit being a "stick in the mud" and eat with the group. I had a great time! The restaurant is pleasant and quiet, the staff is friendly, and the food is excellent. We all enjoyed the experience so much that we decided to have a second meeting there and I enjoyed that experience just as much. I would definitely recommend this place to others and consider going...
Read moreWe only dine if Brandi is working! She honestly knows her job and does it with a smile!!!! She deserves a +10 star!!!!! Some of the other staff likes to judge by looks and you feel the "I dont want to serve you" immediately. Little do they know who we are. Food is "ok" a bit pricy for just "ok". We spend a fortune here since your the ONLY restaurant. The older waitress has been very dry and not really wanting to wait on us in the past. The heavy set shorter girl at the bar never speaks justs lets you sit there for a very long period of time. The younger African American waitress at night is way too loud and hyper for such a small restaurant. A visit from John Taffer is...
