This one star is for my experience with Jorge “the technician” in the ER today 2-9-2021
My name is Tracy and my father is a patient at Mount Sinai hospital who currently receiving treatment for stomach cancer. This morning approximately around 10:36am I brought my father to the ER because he was experiencing some harsh pain in his lower abdominal area. When I enter the hospital, my temperature was check by Carlos and he asked me what brings me to the ER. I told Carlos that my father is experiencing some pain and is unable to walk and would need a wheelchair. Carlos redirected me to the trios station, which a young lady was able to assist. I do apologize I do not remember her name but she was very helpful. She did ask me was my father able to walk prior to arriving the hospital? And I said Yes but now he’s unable to get up and needs assistance. The young lady was able to flagged down Jorge “the technician” to ask him would he be able to help her with my father but instead of Jorge doing what was asked, he wanted to complain and ask the question “Why I did not drop my father at the front door?” I try to explain to Jorge “the technician” that I did not realize that my father was unable to get up until after I finished parking in the parking lot. Jorge “the technician” continues to complain about why “I did not drop my father at the front of the hospital.” From there I turned around and told Jorge his assistance is no longer needed because if he wanted to help, he would of done so, besides complaining in my ear. I also told Jorge he doesn’t need to work in a hospital setting if he does not have the “care and compassion” for the patients as Jorge walks away.
I went on to explain to the young lady that my father and I are coming from Sunrise which is located in Broward County almost 45 minutes away from Mount Sinai with no traffic and maybe the long ride could of contributed to my father not being able to walk due to the long time sitting in the car.
My reason for this compliant is the lack compassion and customer service your employee Jorge “the technician” display this morning, which I feel was disheartening because I am now worried if he displays this type of action when trying to help a fellow co-worker to aid a patient, what would he do if my father happens to be in his care.
I would like to recommend that Jorge “the technician” receive some type of compassion and customer service training because I believe he lacks in that department when dealing...
Read moreOn August 17, 2023 the doctor Anthony Capatano was in the emergency room when my mom arrived. She was convulsing , unconscious . I don’t know about medical issues but it was clear for me they were wasting time. They don’t know what to do. They did not take any emergency attention to make her return from the symptoms she was showing. They patiently told me they need to make test to know what it was going on. She was waiting for her turn to do the MRI. I even said: They are wasting time and a male nurse faced me: “No, it is not wasting time, how we are wasting time”. To make the story short after two hours that we arrived to the hospital, they find out my mom has an obstruction in her carotid artery. Then, after all this time her brain was suffering they called a surgery doctor. She had a surgery, but already according to them her brain was damaged already. My mom is not here with us anymore.
Probably for the personal that was there in charge that fateful day, my mom was another old lady, but for my father that was married to her for 60 years was his entire life. For me was my life too, and for my family was the most important person in the family. Who has love for everyone. Everyone. Probably, she can do more for those guys that were there if you need her than what they do for her. they did not show any compassion for the situation. I want that you know that my life have been destroy for the actions (or not action )that you took that day. My entire family has been destroy since them. The information that is in the medical records when she arrive has a lot of wrong data, She got to the hospital first with my dad that is old too, and he does not speak English. They did not take the right information at all. They did not care. When I arrived the doctor was not taking any emergency situation, and the point I was trusting in them, thinking was something they can solve.
I am writing from my point of view that I don’t know nothing about medicine.
But my daughter is an Intensive Care Nurse in Chicago. This is what she wrote. I will show her opinion in another review because if I put here the exceed the...
Read moreWarning: Do NOT go to this hospital
My mother was admitted here after being told by urgent care that she had a fractured clavicle and needed to see an orthopedic specialist within 72 hours. We were hesitant to come because of the bad reputation this hospital already had — and we regret it tremendously.
From the start, the experience was alarming. On the first night, we arrived around 9 PM. My mom was admitted to the ER, and around 3 AM, staff mistakenly attempted to transport her to another room — she was in Room 26, but they confused her with the patient in Room 25. This kind of error is terrifying and unacceptable.
We remained in the ER until 6:30 AM, during which nurses only checked on her maybe twice. When she was finally given a room, the admitting nurse had no record of why she was admitted in the first place. I had to explain that she had been told she required an MRI, but the nurse insisted no MRI was needed. There was a complete lack of notes, communication, or continuity of care.
Over the next two days, the doctors and nurses kept changing, and each shift acted as though they had no idea why my mom was even admitted. They poked and drew blood, ran unrelated tests and still failed to arrange for the orthopedic evaluation she needed. Every time we asked, we got conflicting answers — some said they didn’t have an orthopedic doctor, others said she would have to wait until “Monday.” That crucial 72-hour window passed while she sat there without the care she actually needed.
The entire experience was chaotic, disorganized, and distressing. Staff were unprepared, records were incomplete, communication was nonexistent, and my mother’s real needs were ignored. We trusted this hospital in an emergency, and they failed us at...
