I was invited to this beautiful theater by a group of friends, I'm so glad I accepted. We had a wonderful time!!! From the moment you walk in, the theater itself is welcoming, the staff were so nice and pleasant. The main usher was a character all by himself, when you meet him you'll know. The seating is good, sometimes you have to adjust when the person in front of you moves. We saw The River Niger by Joseph Walker. The actors of the M Ensemble Company were fantastic!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 KUDOS on a wonderful performance. You literally got pulled into the scenes and characters. We've already planned to go back and see Two Trains Running by August Wilson. There are so many activities that take place at the theater. I will certainly go back for more events. Right in the heart of Liberty City look for the Sandrell Rivers Theater. Thank me later.
UPDATE: We attended the play Two Trains Running (by August Wilson)presented by M Ensemble Company at the Sandrell Rivers Theater. The cast was amazing!!! Their acting skills are phenomenal... taking you back into time, the costumes and set design were pin point perfect.
I've seen a few cast members before and their transformation into the characters they portray are mind blowing!
They were believable!! The highs and lows of this play swept you in; I watched the faces of fellow audience members as we all became one in our reactions; laughing, gasping, oooohs and ahhhs even sadness.
KUDOS on a performance well done!!! Mr. Director André Gainey, Cast and Production Crew 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Looking forward...
Read moreI love this multi-purpose facility which houses both the M Ensemble Theater (The "M"), South Florida's oldest professional African American Theater Company, and Factory Theater Company. Now at 47 years old, The "M" is designated as a Major Cultural Institution. The company started on the campus of UM in 1971, by the late T.G. Cooper, and has moved around the city and has been kept through the dedication of Shirley Richardson, and Patricia E. Williams. The "M" recently won its record number of Carbonell Awards, and is currently preparing to kickoff its season, which is usually four productions per season. I have been attending their productions for years and I have always exchanged with patrons how awesome the productions are. Their audience is both diverse and supporters of the arts. The facility can be rented out for meetings, parties, etc. The location is just a block west of the entrance/exit to I-95, which is great, and there is free covered parking for the theater on the NW 8th Ave., side. I highly recommend you visit! Don't miss Leesa Richards on December 8, 2018, as part of their annual fundraiser! See the flyer for more information. You'll...
Read moreI attended a play reading recently at this location. As far as venues go, it's a bit smaller than I expected but its design allows it a great deal of flexibility in terms of performances, functions and gatherings. The lobby area actually featured some art work from local artists and they were available for purchase.
The ambiance is modern along with an understated elegance that is typical of performing art locales. Everything looks fresh and well-maintained.
I had mentioned earlier that I attended a play reading and they were careful to announce that they were ready to invite more people to attend along with plans to be more active post-Covid. The outside appearance of the locale contrasts sharply with the neighborhood which itself is run down. I didn't feel uncomfortable where i was but i was definitely alert to my surroundings.
There is a parking garage at the back of the building and it accommodates parking for a bank that it shares space with. It's also very close to I-95 which makes accessibility very easy.
I did enjoy my visit and I would not object to visiting again but it is quite a distance from where I live in...
