I had an altercation with another lifter that claimed he was entitled to the workout equipment I was using. He claimed that the machine was being saved for him which I did not see at the time, I put my things on the machine. Since I wear noise-canceling headphones to the gym, I struggle with reading other people's social cues when transiting from one machine to another and attempt to be as respectful as possible when talking to other lifters. These kids were extremely disrespectful to me and insisted that they were the ones who belonged on the machine. When I walked away to grab the correct cable attachment, they took my equipment and water bottle and placed them onto the turf away from me. For this, I feel that I did not deserve this treatment and didn't understand how serious they were in trying to work out the machine. I finished my lift, told them they could have the machine now, and said that it was all there. I continued to get barraged by comments and kept my composter due to me being an adult and them being high schoolers. When I left I complained to the front desk and talked to THE nicest employee who completely understood my situation. I did not catch his name, but the bro understood my problem and was extremely professional in dealing with the situation. SHOUT OUT my man, you are the reason for the 4 stars in this review, continue being an awesome employee and making that gym an accepting place. For the kids, I would hope they get their gym memberships revoked because they clearly don't respect other lifters in that gym and this isn't even my first altercation with them. I understand that they aren't fully mature yet, but this doesn't excuse the lack of respect they had, shame on them for...
Read moreEdit: I’m taking back my original 5-star review. As someone brand new to the gym, I had a really disappointing experience. I went to grab a yoga mat and was abruptly yelled at by a woman running a class … “MOVE, THERE IS A CLASS!”
I understand that group classes need space, but I’m also a paying member and should be treated with basic respect. I wasn’t trying to disrupt anything… I was just trying to find a yoga mat, especially since the group fitness room was also in use and there were no other mats available.
If members can’t access basic equipment without being scolded in front of others, it creates an unwelcoming environment. Not a good first impression, and definitely not the supportive atmosphere I was hoping for.
On top of that, I’ve only been to the gym six times total….. and twice, trainers have come up to me in the middle of my reps to ask if I could get off equipment or share it so they could show something to someone else. I pay for the highest-tier membership, and it’s honestly ridiculous to be interrupted like that while I’m working out twice within a week. It makes the space feel like it’s more about serving the trainers than respecting paying members. Really disappointing and frustrating for someone...
Read moreThis gym is exactly what a gym should look and feel like. I was actually incredibly surprised at how high the standards are at Midland Park Crunch. All of the staff possessed naturally positive attitudes, were very observant, and were without exception superb advocates for Crunch Fitness. There was not one machine out of order, and not one place that needed attention in terms of cleanliness. This fosters an attitude of respect from gym members, who like the place so much they want to keep it that way - so the vast majority of members I observed helped maintain the high standards with great attitudes, consideration and cleanliness. Diana, the gym membership representative I dealt with on the phone, then in person at the gym, is the consummate professional, and naturally engaging. She is such a pleasure to interact with that you just know you've made the right decision in joining Crunch Midland Park. Whether you are a hang out, shoot the breeze, or all about the workout type, a gym is more than just a building with machines and automatons in it - and Crunch Midland Park nails the right...
