Rocafe — Attraction in Milwaukee

I was super excited to try this place because it’s across the street from me but when I finally walked over the two girls inside made eye contact with me through the glass door as I walked up, got up from where they were sitting by the door and literally RAN to the back of the building. And when I grabbed the door handle it was locked even though the signs say they are open. The two girls proceeded to just stare at me as I waved and waited for some to let me in, until they eventually just walked out of sight and waited for me to leave. As I’m going back across the street to go home with no breakfast, a different woman pulls up and walks up to the door and the same two girls IMMEDIATELY let her in with a smile and close the door behind her.

If you are not Hispanic they will NOT let you in the store! There girls literally watched me cross the street towards the store and while maintaining eye contact with me through the glass, locked the door and walked to the back of the store while I knocked and waited to be let in. When I couldn’t get in I crossed the street to go back home and as soon as I did a Hispanic woman pulled up and they RAN to unlock the door for her and even held it open for her to come in. When I turned around and walked in 60 seconds later they looked at me like they’d seen a ghost and were extremely rude. I’ve lived in this neighborhood since before this place even opened so it’s extremely disheartening to not be able to support a local business I was actually really excited about. Warm, friendly and family oriented. Open from Monday to Saturday the place is nice, clean, and organized. You can order and take out or sit inside and enjoy a cafe de olla with a hint of canella y piloncillo. The coffee is a gourmet coffee from Mexico. We ate crepes, rich in flavor with fresh fruits and condensed milk. Big portions to share, but if you eat the first bite you do not want to share.
