This park has an easy trail to access the island, then it’s a little rocky, but nothing a 5yr old can’t handle. Great river views, relaxing, and probably a nice spot to hang out at in the summer. ( not sure how hard it will be to park though ) apparently this is a popular place to take ones RC truck. We saw lots of folks rock climbing and tooting around with their RC’s.

This is my go to place for RC rock crawling in the Portland metro area. I usually spent several hours here walking around driving my trail truck. Great terrain with rock everywhere, some mud as well. The landscape is fairly dynamic too, so things seem to change every few months. Just be careful of the tides or else it may be a wet walk back!

Sunny weekend days can be crowded, so morning is best. Winter and spring days when the river is high can make it hard to get to the island. We like to park in downtown Milwaukie, walk to the waterfront and through the 2 parks to get to Elk Rock Island. Then walk back for a nice loop.

This place is so beautiful if you just want to take a walk about.

I personally go here with my husband to play with our RC cars, and it is a great place to do that.

Obviously, being in Oregon, it's cold much of the year, so dress warm. However, when the sun is out, it gleams on the water and is stunning.

Great place to play, walk, sit and think, or there is an option for a longer hike...
