I have attended Hostfest since its earliest days! It has always been a highlight of my year, especially the music! The food is extremely good - first noon lunch for me is Klub! Other Scandinavian delights soon follow. Usually a main show in the arena, followed by a free show or two, then home until the second day where I enjoy looking at all the exhibits, more food, especially the delicious lutefisk and lefse supper, and as many of the free stages as I can work in the day. Of course, there are always the special gifts to bring home! My calendars are mark with Hostfest as soon as I receive them. I hope to continue attending as long as I possibly can. Read more2022 was a somewhat smaller Hostfest, but I think that was smart for a restart. Hostfest offered performers for all age groups, which is really nice. As the traditional crowd shrinks, this festival needs to build its future festival goers. But to me, what makes the festival the best is the traditional foods of the Scandinavians that settled in the northern plains, the talented artisans, the many opportunities to interact with “modern” Scandinavians, and shop for many great products from great vendors. Read moreThe worst camping experience of my life. I was so excited to drive my motorhome up to the Hostfest and spend a few days enjoying the culture. Their idea of camping is parking in a huge gravel parking lot with 24-hour overhead lighting and train tracks with engines tooting every half hour all night. I left at 5am after not getting a wink of sleep and will never go back. I tried to get my money back for the "camping" nightmare to no avail....
