My family and I try to make a trip up to Branson from Texas at least once a year. Though we always try to add something new each time, one constant was Silver Dollar City. My now adult children always enjoyed it when we visited. Now the tradition is now including our seven year old. He just absolutely loves amusement park rides and with every ride that we come up he automatically goes to the ride requirement pole. Though he hasn’t been able to ride any of the thrill rides yet, he still checks. Well this time ( even though I checked online beforehand) he goes up to the Powder Keg pole and BOOM!! he is able to ride. You should have seen his face. That made it all worth it. We go and get in line, and the excitement continues throughout the line. We get off and I asked “Well, what did you think? Did you like it?” “NO DAD, I DID NOT LIKE IT!” “I LOVED IT!!! CAN WE GO ON IT AGAIN??” Sometimes with thrill rides, that first experience can determine how future rides will be. I’m glad he loved it. There were no loops, so I’m sure that helped. All in all a great time was had and I’m sure it will be a part of all future visits. One thing that I think is cool is that they incorporated parts of the ride Buzzsaw Falls into the aesthetic of Powder Keg and it works. Highly recommend for new and experienced riders.

Powder keg is one heck of a crazy ride at Silver Dollar City. It doesn't get a lot of respect because it's not super high but it's like a mini hyper or at least it's silver dollar cities version of such. I love the compressed air launch and it's just a fun ride overall with two lift hills and a fun secondary section right before the end of the ride. If you're in Branson or you're going to Silver Dollar City you definitely have to check out this ride!

I just turned 60 years old a few weeks ago and have been coming to Silverdollar city since I was a young boy. I rode this coaster with my 10-year-old son twice… The first time and the last time. This ride was very scary for me and yet still exhilarating, too crazy for this old guy.

One of the most underrated launch coasters I've ridden. The first launch is extremely powerful and is not talked about enough. The acceleration on it is fantastically forceful. Plus the rest of the ride is also fantastic, providing some great flojector airtime moments through the woods. Plus it's just such a querky ride that you gotta love. The history is great, the theming is solid, and is just overall an awesome ride that needs to get more appreciation from...
