We were in hog heaven, can't believe we never visited before in the 7 years we've lived in Mobile. Our guide was SO knowledgeable, I'm a relentless question-asker, and I don't think I stumped him once! The history of the "mansion" was so different than our preconceived notions, including the fact that it wasn't really a mansion by its' day's standards, just a house. But what eye candy and fun things it has inside, a thrill-a-minute for history buffs!!! The home is well maintained and filled with period paintings, mirrors, antique furniture, china dishes. Beautiful textiles too. The upper front outside staircase needed some maintenance (falling apart) but rest of home was in excellent condition.
Dont miss this home! Its in a charming neighborhood and is one of the nicest homes to...

Both the house and the grounds were beautiful--it was azalea season and it was in full, gorgeous bloom! We really enjoyed the tour and hearing the stories of the families who lived in the house and seeing their things. Some really fascinating architecture, including the giant pocket doors and the windows with the half doors. Just a great example of American history and we're...
