I bought my first Guncles oatmeal raisin cookie 11 months ago at a boutique at The Wharf while on vacation in Orange Beach, and I was hooked. We are back in Orange Beach so my husband and I drove to Mobile, AL. because I had to visit the bakery that made the BEST oatmeal raisin cookie I couldn’t forget. When we entered the bakery, my first impression was “WOW! OMG!“. I was so excited by the variety of deliciousness on display I could not contain myself. I shamelessly inhaled an entire decadent Gluten Free Fig Spice Mini Cake by myself before I paid for it, then Demetrius brought out 2 warm scrumptious cinnamon rolls dripping with luscious cream cheese frosting, which my husband and I devoured with a cup of well balanced, rich flavored organic piping hot coffee. This cinnamon roll, is unlike all the other GF cinnamon roll, the texture is soft, moist and melts in your mouth, with the perfect about of gooey cinnamon. It was amazing! Before leaving, we visited with the founders, Demetrius and John Edward, both men are down to earth, genuine, friendly, and welcoming, they are the epitome of southern hospitality! Please read their amazing story behind the motivation to opening up Guncles, in the ABOUT page on their website. When I got back to my resort in Orange Beach, I had to try the biscuit, which had a perfectly crisp golden brown outer crust, the inside was buttery, soft and tender, melts in your mouth, trust me, you will not want to add anything to it. I was touched by their story, that when the maintenance guy overheard my family and I talking about where we should eat dinner with GF options, he shared that he had celiac disease, so I expressed how fortunate he was to live so close to Guncles, and I was SHOCKED he never heard of them, so I offered to share my treats. He chose the red velvet whoopie pie because he hasn’t had red velvet since being diagnosed with celiac disease, and of course I also had to give him the cookie that started it all. He was so thankful I was willing to share and said the red velvet whoopie pie was AMAZING. Thank you Demetrius & John Edward!!

I just finished a 10 day tour of the US South and made sure to stop by this gluten-free bakery while staying in Mobile, Alabama. This is everything that I bought at Guncles gluten-free bakery in Mobile, Alabama this past Saturday! I purchased: 1 cinnamon roll. $5.98 2 pack of oatmeal creme pies. $13.98 1 Raspberry lemon friand. $7.98 3 pack of cheddar herb biscuits $8.98 Mobile, Alabama sales tax is 10% which added another $3.69 to our bill for a total of $40.61 I've been to 33 US states and this is in my top 2 favorites for gluten-free bakeries. Yes, it is spendy so it is a treat, but these were INDISTINGUISHABLE from gluten products. It was shocking how the texture was so on point. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and I remember how "regular" food tastes and this tastes like the real thing. If I could only get one item, I'd get the cheddar herb biscuits. They were incredible. I had my non-celiac husband try everything and he said it tasted like the real thing. A male staff member walked us through the options and suggested a mini cake. We had to pass because we were not going to be anywhere with a refrigerator for the rest of the day. We got these items to-go because we had to be in Mississippi before lunch time. There is a small area for sitting inside but if you have a party of more than 2, you will need to take over the outside picnic tables. Visited May 2024

I’ve been gluten-free for over a decade, and now our 6-year-old is too—which makes finding kid-friendly GF food a real challenge. We’re from Florida and were driving to New Orleans when my husband discovered Guncles. He was so excited about it that we planned our overnight stop just so we could eat there—and wow, was it worth it! When I say it was the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had, I’m not exaggerating. We also grabbed some goodies to take with us: the cheddar biscuits (amazing!), the chocolate and spiced fig cake (so delicious), chocolate chip cookies (I want to buy more to give as gifts!), and their regular biscuits—which totally hit the spot. I was so impressed. But beyond the incredible food, the owners and staff were kind, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do. It’s rare to find a place with both outstanding gluten-free treats and such heart behind it. It was so good, we’re actually trying to swing by again today before they close to grab more to take home for ourselves and our friends!

My girlfriend and myself wanted to try out this bakery during Mardi Gras, but schedule conflicts wouldn't allow. Six months later, on our way to the beach we were able to stop by. Ten stars out of five. Demetrius greeted us outside and explained their story and all their products, while John Edward was busy pouring Ganache. After about twenty minutes John Edward greeeted us as well and told us all about their story. They took so much care and clearly showed that they are focused on making their customers happy, while baking the MOST AMAZING treats ever. I (Celiac) and my normal girlfriend came to the unequivocal conclusion that these were the best baked goods, we've ever had. They are so personal and truly have perfected their craft. We will be returning every time we're in the Mobile area, from now on. They truly are the best baked goods I've ever had (prediagnosis and since then), and these two made our day with how much they really seemed to care about their customers. LOVE THIS PLACE. We ordered every mini bundt cake, and the Banana bread. They were the most moist, flavorful, and carefully...
