Coastal Makers Art Studio — Local services in Mobile

Our youth empowerment and injury violence prevention program had the privilege of visiting Coastal Makers for a kintsugi pottery session, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Led by the incredible Ms. Kari, our participants and mentors were able to reflect, heal, and express themselves through this beautiful and symbolic art form.

Ms. Kari created such a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment that allowed everyone to feel safe and inspired. Even when one of our students felt discouraged and thought their bowl couldn’t be put back together, Ms. Kari worked tirelessly to help repair it—because, in her words, “I don’t want anyone to be left out of having a bowl.” That small act of care and determination made a huge impact and showed just how deeply she values every individual.

Had a great time at the soul painting workshop with my mom (our first time at the studio). Two issues: 1) There wasn’t any actual yoga, but it was advertised as having that. We could have done a basic gentle or yin yoga flow, but the instructor wasn’t well versed in that and just had us do some stretches. 2) Two hours is not enough time for this class when so much of it was spent discussing her work and waiting between different steps to let the canvas dry. It really needs at least 3 hours (4 if you add legit yoga). Otherwise it was a fabulous time, the instructor was super sweet, and the small class size gave us awesome personalized instruction.
