William G. Stratton State Park — Attraction in Morris

This is a wonderful park, however the photos displayed do not properly reflect the landscape of the Wm G. Stratton State Park and were not sanctioned by the park. 11 of the 12 pictures identify the photographer as a lessee of a concession within the state park. The photos show tents, the state park does not allow camping within the park, and the only watercraft shown reflect the concessionaires rental inventory. Wm. G. Stratton State Park, located in the beautiful Illinois River Valley, was created over 5 decades ago for ALL water...

The river along here has some very nice views. We never did find a restroom, but there is construction. The wooded area along the river is strewn with trash, broken beer bottles, cans and various intimate care items. We had our adolescent kids with us and would have rather they did not see what they saw, but it is the world they will grow up in.

It's a nice place to launch your boat, skip rocks, have a picnic (2 tables) or park your car and watch the Illinois River flow by. The gulls will be glad to see you, especially if you have some extra food!
