When I first wanted to find an engagement ring for my girlfriend (now fiance) i asked around. i asked my brother who he used for his (now) wife and he recommended someone on the east side of the state. Then I asked another colleague who recommend me someone in Chicago. Then i asked my good buddies who gave me the generic Kay Jewelers and other big box companies. Then I asked my former colleague (Julie) who she would use. She gave me the name of Steve Silverberg in Mt. Pleasant. I thought "really?, Mt. Pleasant?" I showed up and the place was on the main drag. i went in and it did not feel like they rolled out the red carpet. The bathroom was in the back and not the most eye pleasing location (just being honest). Then I meant Steve, the most down to earth guy. He walked me though the process and gave me the numbers on everything (he seriously made no money on our deal). i realized that he wanted me and my fiance to be happy with the ring, but he was not trying to nickel and dime us, he was trying to cut us a good deal. AND he did.
