It's a wonderful experience! Great way to conquer some fear and remind yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to! Great activity for children that are young if they don't have a hard time trying new things, because it's pretty high up in the air and they don't quite grasp the fact that your harness will catch you if you fall. My son is 6 and he did okay for 90% of the first 2 levels but had a tiny tiny meltdown in the middle of one of the planks. Not saying this for any reason other than to help people decide if this would be a good thing to plan on doing when you visit. My daughter and I did it 2 times and she went back for a 3rd time just before we left for the day. If you even think you have the intentions of returning to the park within the next year, then get the yearly membership if at all possible. It is more than worth it and great fun for children out of school for the summer. They had the Zuzu Acrobats from Kenya which was an awesome 30 minute show in the AC and a tent set up with 1,000 butterflies for you to enjoy as some new things to experience. We frequent the park so that was a great thing to us. Check the calendar when you go so you know what's going on because some attractions are temporary and I don't want to mislead someone into thinking the Acrobats or Butterfly Exhibit are there all the time. Sorry for the long review just wanted to hopefully convince people to go there and have a blast. It's amazing. The staff is also AMAZING EVERYWHERE YOU GO! Thank you SMP for taking care of them so well that the visitors are...
Read moreThe SkyHike at Stone Mountain Park was really awesome. There are three levels with the top level being the smallest. We went in there with our son who loved it.
First, everyone gets weighed discreetly to make sure you are not over the limit. I think the limit is 300 or 350 pounds. Then you continue on and get the harness secured to you and the safely strap. Then you go on from there to secure the strap to the mechanism that holds it while you are on the SkyHike.
You climb a staircase to the first level to begin. There are two choices that you can walk across, usually one easier and one more challenging. There are several of these obstacles before you move into the second level that had about the same number of obstacles. The third level has about half or less. But with the third level, you must stay on the left side as you go out, then turn around at the end and come back on the left side again so you do each of them once. You can choose to only do the first level or just the first two. You don't have to do them all if you find it's an issue for you.
The actual course takes about an hour, depending on how crowded it is. Plus there is the wait time in line before you begin. Over all, it was a lot of fun and I'm glad we...
Read moreSo much fun. My daughter had a summer camp field trip atbthe park yesterday. She loved the sky hike park. So we went back today and did the sky hike. In our excitement we didnt read the sign and went all the way to the top on the first try. So we get to the first platform and my daughter is terrified.....and she's am I. An employee named Isiaah really stepped up and got her through many of the obstacles. Halfway through my daughter explained to me they only did the skyhike playground...lol. After we made it through she was now a kindergartner with hero status getting through the lower levels of the corse swiftly. The adventure pass was great, park employees are top notch. Better than any other park of its kind. Its a good human experience, we did everything on the adventure pass, some multipe times. Perfect for kids and not bad for adults. Had a great time. All pricing was on the high side of reasonable. I was fortunate to have a coupon and packed a cooler. Parking on light day is very near to the park so picnicing is easy. Very clean park, tons of trash cans in...
