The Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad offers a charming and leisurely experience, taking passengers on a picturesque journey around Georgia's iconic Stone Mountain. Here's a detailed review of the ride:

Overview The Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad is a 5-mile excursion aboard a historic train that encircles Stone Mountain. The journey provides scenic views of the natural beauty and historical landmarks in the park.

Experience Scenic Views: The ride offers stunning vistas of Stone Mountain and the surrounding landscape. Passengers can enjoy the beauty of the area's woodlands, lakes, and the granite mountain itself. Historic Feel: The train cars are designed to reflect the historical charm of the railroad, giving a nostalgic feel that enhances the overall experience. The sound of the train whistle and the rhythmic clatter of the tracks add to the ambiance. Informative Narration: Throughout the journey, there's a narration that provides interesting facts and stories about the history of Stone Mountain and the railroad. This adds an educational element to the ride, making it suitable for both adults and children. Comfortable Ride: The train ride is smooth and comfortable, with open-air cars that allow for a refreshing breeze and an unobstructed view of the scenery. Pros Family-Friendly: The ride is ideal for families, offering a fun and safe activity for children and adults alike. Accessible: The railroad is easily accessible within Stone Mountain Park, with ample parking and facilities. Value for Money: The ticket prices are reasonable, especially considering the length and quality of the experience. Cons Limited Schedule: The train runs on a set schedule, which might not always align with visitors' plans. It's advisable to check the timings in advance. Weather Dependent: As an open-air experience, the ride can be affected by weather conditions. It might be less enjoyable on particularly hot, cold, or rainy days. Tips for Visitors Check the Schedule: Verify the train's schedule before your visit to ensure you don't miss the ride. Arrive Early: Arriving early can help secure a good seat, especially during peak tourist seasons. Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable clothing suitable for the weather, as the open-air cars are exposed to the elements. Conclusion The Stone Mountain Scenic Railroad is a delightful attraction that offers a unique way to explore the natural and historical beauty of Stone Mountain. Its combination of scenic views, historical charm, and informative narration make it a must-try experience for visitors to the area. Whether you're a local or a tourist, the train ride provides a memorable journey through one of Georgia's most...

Stone Mountain is a wonderful place. One thing to be advised of is that if you plan to take the Skyride to the top of the mountain, you can buy a ticket separately but, for the same price (just over 40 bucks) you can simply buy the all-attractions pass available in the main attractions area which costs the same amount, gives access to 'all' of the park activities, and includes the Skyride in its price. Folks can take the Skyride 1-way too, which is nice because then you have the option (e.g.) to hike back down and enjoy the interesting formations the granite has taken on. The countless etchings by human visitors are interesting too. I think the park opened in 1923 (the oldest etching we saw was from 1928). Definitely a fun place to visit for nature...

We had a great youth trip to Stone Mountain and enjoyed riding to the top of the mountain, putt putt, the ropes course, train ride, dinosaur experiences, food, and the light show. We put in a full day and all ages enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and we even had a #trainbesties but I can remember her name. The staff was friendly and helpful but sometimes we’re not aware of where things were located in the park, and some items were not listed on the map, like the ropes course. There are some minor maintenance issues around the park, but nothing that detracts from the experience or causes a...
