We stopped at Stone Mountain today on our way to Atlanta. I wasn't hungry on the way to so by the time we ended up at Stone Mountain, I was hungry. I stopped into Big Rock Cafe to see what kind of goodies they had.
Pretty generic menu. Burgers, chicken sammys, fries and shakes. I see that they had a smash burger combo meal. It sounded pretty legit so I went ahead and ordered it. It does come with fries but not a drink.
There was an order ahead of mine. It took forever for their order to be prepared and even longer for mine. I'm assuming that they prepare orders individually which can cause such a long wait time for your customers. I can't imagine if we came on a super busy day with a ton of tourists and they work on orders individually. The wait time would be insane.
My burger and fries came out hot. I appreciate the amount of fries they serve you. Biting into my burger, you can taste the grilled onions, pickles and special sauce. The sauce had a heat element to it. I didn't really care for it. My patty was really dry and hard. I don't know where the smashed element came into play but as many smashed burgers I have had, today's burger was nothing like the ones I have had before. It reminded me of an overcooked burger patty you get at a bbq. I ate as much as I could which was less than half before I threw in the towel. It was an awful burger.
The dining area could use a little tending to. The floors are dirty and sticky. You can feel your shoes sticking to the floor. It's so gross as a consumer to eat in such a dirty area. I can only imagine what the kitchen is like.
I should have just held off eating here but I was starving. My husband paid 20 bucks for me to eat a third of my meal. The staff was nice but I would recommend saving your 20 bucks and eating...
Read moreIf you’re craving comfort food done right, look no further—this place is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly and efficient staff who made the entire experience feel seamless and welcoming. You can really tell they take pride in their work and care about their customers.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely phenomenal! The smash burger was hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection with that irresistible crispy edge that only a proper smash burger can deliver. Each bite was packed with savory goodness and melted cheese, perfectly balanced with fresh toppings on a soft, toasted bun. Pure bliss.
The fries were another standout. Freshly cooked and perfectly seasoned, they were golden, crispy, and piping hot—everything you want from a great side. No soggy or underdone fries here, just crispy perfection that pairs wonderfully with the burger.
And don’t even get me started on the chicken tenders! Crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside—these tenders are what dreams are made of. They tasted freshly made and had the perfect seasoning and texture. Great on their own or dipped in any of their house sauces.
To top it all off, the service was impressively fast and reliable. Even during a busy lunch rush, the food came out quickly, and every staff member was attentive and professional. It’s rare to find this level of quality in both food and service, but this spot nails it.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a satisfying, high-quality meal with no hassle. I’ll definitely be coming...
Read moreThinking of eating at Big Rock Cafe at Stone Mountain once you got there? Big Mistake!!!! We were there with a group of 5 to order foods on a Saturday afternoon. There were a cashier male and another service female at the counter who stood and leaned to the back counter motionless and eyeballed us for good 3 minutes without greetings. I said hi and started to ordered foods. Reluctantly the male took my orders unpleasantly. The pizza's weren't good as chese melted and poured down the plates made them look sloppily unappetizing. They are salty, burned, sloppy plus the unpleasant services we received made the foods here NOT worthing. The park was crowded with visitors but the cafe is a ghost town as no one buying foods except for refilled beverages bottles which they bought from the souvenir shop. My experience with this cafe is unpleasant treatment, mediocre foods and expensive. A homemade sandwich would tasted 10 times better...
