I made reservations here. The reservations person made 3 months reservations in weekly increments. He said it would be too expensive otherwise. I got there and the manager said they had a 30 day maximum stay. She also told me I can't leave my dog alone in the room if I wasn't there. I don't have a car. She would not allow me to put my dog in his crate to go to the grocery store. So the manager canceled all my reservations for me except for the first week. I chose this hotel because they had outside doors to the rooms. I thought I would be able to smoke cigarettes outside my room. No one told me I couldn't do that. Numerous employees walked past me and didn't say a word. Then the manager came outside and was yelling at me that I couldn't smoke there from a very considerable distance. She would not come closer so I walked over to her. She told me there were 2 designated smoking areas and I couldn't smoke anywhere else on the property. She told me there was a $200 fine. I told her I had no idea and I wouldn't do it again. There was an old office chair at the designated smoking area behind the office where I sat to smoke. I am in poor health and can not stand. Last Saturday the manager came out to smoke and I thought we had a nice conversation. Last Sunday I went there to smoke and the chair was gone. I saw the chair sitting outside the laundry room and went to look at it. There was nothing wrong with it. I called the office to ask about it and whoever answered the phone said they were throwing it away, it was trash. I have a camping chair that I started carrying a distance to the smoking area to smoke. The manager came out to smoke and I asked her about the chair, that there was nothing wrong with it and that I am in poor health and can not stand. She said the owner told her to throw it away. I said the owner micro manages what is done with a chair? She said it was the owners chair at his desk and he told them to get rid of it. (If you saw the chair you would know that wasn't true). After that the manager was practically stalking me starting arguments. I answered everything in an intelligent and friendly manner. She came outside trying to argue about nonsense. There was a pause. I took the opportunity to tell her that not a soul said anything about their designated smoking areas and that numerous employees walked by and didn't say a word. She said it's not their job to tell you I have you on camera. I was in the smoking area again and the manager came out to smoke. She was arguing about nonsense again. I put my cigarette out on the sidewalk and then put it in the butt can. She said no putting the cigarettes out on the sidewalk. I said would you rather the butt can catches on fire. She said it gets the sidewalk dirty. I said can't the rain wash it off? She said I want you gone. You're leaving tomorrow. You are checking out tomorrow. I got up from my camping chair, said ok, and went to my room to make other arrangements. I left the next day. I have a...
Read moreThis place was a huge disappointment. We didn't get any sleep at all. There are families living at this hotel with teenagers running back & forth, room to room all the way up to 3am. There's a "balcony" that runs the entire 2nd floor with doors that open on to it (so your room has 2 doors that lead out of the room) but people hang out partying and smoking all friggin night. There's a lounge in the hotel that blasts music until it closes at 2am and I do mean that it is crazy loud. Then the drunken patrons stumble back to their rooms yelling & laughing then hanging out on the balcony until 3 or 4am. Walking down the hall you can hear every TV & conversation coming from every room. And bravo to "Chris" apparently from hearing your name over & over she's either a great actress or "you da man" as she kept saying. I'm serious when I say this place is noisy & it's mostly because of the actual motel/no insulation or whatever. There's no exhaust fan in the bathroom (you can mask a lot of hallway noise by leaving it on at night) also the heat/air doesn't have a constant fan setting either (again it helps mask noise) so it kicks on & off all night & doesn't keep the room a nice temperature. The mattresses are extremely light so they actually slide around when you get up or get into the bed. They weren't uncomfortable but they almost felt like the inflatable beds you buy for camping. There's no coffee pots in the rooms but you can get a cup out of the dispenser in the lobby. So you have to carry coffee up & down the stairs. I went looking for ice machine (there's an ice bucket in the room) and finally walked down to the lobby to ask and she handed me a baggy of ice?!? No ice machine and 1 baggy of ice? The outside door is taped open so no security at all. There's notes everywhere telling the people who (definitely) live there to remove their workboots before entering so they don't track in dirt and notes for them to clean up after their dog. Really odd. The pool is covered & trust me it hasn't been uncovered in years. The concrete around it is a mess with 2 foot high weeds. When we checked in they said there was breakfast in the morning. It was a carafe of orange juice & a carafe of cranberry juice. A plate of brownies & a plate of cookies & 1 cut up orange decorating the plate and nothing was covered. Oh and no tables or really anyplace to sit so you are balancing a cups of coffee & juice (would be worse if you wanted any of the uncovered "food" cuz trying to use the keycard to get into the room without spilling was fun enough) we could not wait to get out of this motel from hell. Avoid at all cost unless the government is...
Read moreUpon arriving for my reservation not even 1 minute passed and I felt like I was immediately profiled by the short spanish guy named Edward who works in the night at the front desk. I’m coming from Jersey and traveling for work this was my first stay here and my first experience here at Red Roof Reading PA. It’s not my first experience at red roof, I stayed at the red roof in Edison New Jersey basically lived there for months in 2016. Before even greeting me, this boy felt the need to tell me that if anybody was to come to my room that they would have to provide their ID! I let him know that nobody would be checking in with me If so that wouldn’t be an issue and if so I would’ve made a reservation for two people! Then he insisted on saying in a belittling tone that these were their regulations. I overlooked it and just stayed quiet …… My best-friend who dropped me off was in a rush dropped my bags off and just dipped. I looked at him and I was like see it’s just me and Continue to check in. The reason I feel I was profiled was because of my make up! I admit I killed it and it probably gave off rockstar but I dress like a boy! My boyfriend actually just passed away and this man made me feel so uncomfortable at a time like Valentine’s Day where you should be loving kind and respect people especially if they are treating you with respect that they don’t owe you! Anyways come this morning when I wanted to extend my stay I was told there was a note that was made asking me to leave due to suspicious activity. I turned so red out of embarrassment trying to figure out what was so suspicious I did? I never smoked in this room my best friend did stay for Galentines Day which she provided ID yesterday 2/14 people are not in and out of my room bc I’m here alone and grieving. My experience here was only to come to be disrespected. I love the fact that this hotel is clean and I did like the lady that worked in the morning. Her name is Kim she was very professional and she made my experience a little better than what it was. It’s also very convenient to my job, but I will be reaching out to a supervisor. I work for customer service and also as a receptionist for Honda aside from my travel work. Edward gives extremely misogynistic, disrespectful, privileged and it was felt. Kim the manager made my stay pleasant! For that 2 stars! Thank you [ ] Farah Lya...
