We reserved a spot for my daughter's birthday 3 days before her birthday finally after calling the parks and recreation department of Muskogee due to calling River Country everyday for a week straight and getting no answer and no returns on any of our voice mails we left. The day of the party we were told to bring a guest list of the 10 guest that would be paid for and that each additional guest would be 6 dollars which included a 12 oz. Drink, we checked in and gave them the list there were additional guest with us when we checked in who paid for themselves, we were asked to choose 2 beverages we would like served, the 2 we chose were root beer and orange fanta, we proceeded to look for the party Pavillion on our own and finally had to ask for directions as this was our first time here. As guest on the original 10 people list started arriving they were asked to pay for themselves, I had to go to the attendant and explain to her these were people on the guest list that were already paid for by the $120 reservation once everyone arrived we sang happy birthday to my daughter cut and served the cake and still had no drinks her time frame for the party was 1:30 - 3pm she began opening her gifts and by 2:30 we still had no drinks served to us, we again had to go ask the attendant who then brought us only 10 cups for the original guest list no additional cups for the additional guest that paid for the party and brought us one pitcher of flat watered down Coca-Cola and one pitcher of flat watered down Dr. Pepper. The Web site had said the birthday child would receive a River Country t-shirt which she did not get, and has been removed from the website. When I called about the shirt they said they no longer offer that, I also told them we were very disappointed in the party reservation and all she could say was "okay well thank you I'll pass it on" The kids had a great time at the park itself but I would definitely NOT recommend wasting your money on a party with them, you're better off singing happy birthday and serving cake at their picnic tables out front and paying for 10 guest to get into the park rather than paying their ridiculous prices basically just to be able to reserve a Pavillion that's already empty to begin with and to be able to bring a cake...
Read moreI've only been on weekday afternoons and despite the many kids, it wasn't overly chaotic. Most of the lifeguards were good about scanning the area. I only noticed a couple that seemed distracted by one another.
There are lockers available for storing your belongings (for a small fee). They don't allow outside food or drinks, and they will check your bags. Understandably, they don't want people to start bringing in alcohol and other things, but expect to wait a while if you order food. [There is a Braums down the road that a lot of people like to stop by after leaving the park.]
There aren't too many shaded areas to hang out in. Adults seem to gravitate towards the lazy river, so at times you might have to wait about 15 minutes for a float. Occasionally, you have kids and teens trying to race through the lazy river, bumping into floats in the process, so don't get too relaxed (I was momentarily pinned up against the wall one time because a group of kids forced their way through). The lifeguards can't see all of the lazy river, but they do what they can. Some people mentioned debris in the river. Yes, there is a small bit of plant debris in the lazy river, due to the surrounding foliage.
The restroom/shower/changing area is not the most well-maintained. I suppose there's only so much that they can do, since it is a water park and they get constant traffic through there, but I have never seen any employees tending to the area. There are a lot of stalls available though. I just recommend wearing shoes if you go in there.
Overall, I'd give it 3.5-4 stars because kids and teens seem to enjoy it and it's probably one of the safest, and more family-friendly, places...
Read moreI wanted this place to be awesome and it just wasnt. You almost feel like you are entering a prison. When you first enter the park they go through and take everything out of your bags and then expect you to put everything back in. They open every zipper and "touch" everything. It felt like a huge invasion of privacy and embarrassing when you have undergarments flashed for everyone to see. You also are not able to bring in just any kind of life/swim vest. My son wasn't able to bring in the only thing, which was a swim vest- that will help him learn to swim. I even saw them make someone take their cigarettes back out to their car. You aren't able to bring in any water bottles even if they are empty to fill at the water fountain. This is just plain ridiculous since the workers can have their own water bottles. The entrance just set the mood for the entirety of the park. The concession stand workers are just terrible. Not to mention they have NO healthy options for children that have allergies. Prepare to wait in a line and then decide to shut down the line and not tell anyone. So you are just sitting there forever without even realizing you are no longer in a line and have to get behind people that came up way after you. The concession workers clearly also cant stand their job because they are not friendly and pretty much rude to you for ordering something. I might return to this park because the place itself if cool and a good place to take little ones but if it were just me I would definitely go somewhere else. There is just no need to be that...
