Before shipment occured, I called into them twice (spoke to a lady - won't name her) and we jointly "ballparked" shipping a case of wine at $100.00 with some insurance on a bottle or 2. I bought just over 30 bottles, approx 16 were bourbon bottles, so I expected some more work for them. I checked the box for 3 day shipping, assuming it could cost me $5-600 (sounds pretty fair to me). They charged my card $999 but the worst part is not one person in that building thought they should call me before? When I called them for an itemized list of the costs, they called me back 15 minutes later to justify the costs and explain them to me. I enjoyed that, since it seemed appropriate after the fact to call me (to defend their charges), but could not extend me the courtesy of a call up front before charging me. I'm assuming the packaging will be "bomb proof" and all of purchases will hit our house in fantastic shape. I had a few other companies to choose from and didn't even think twice since I spoke to them up front...I will not use them again on my next trip to wine country. In this day and age....COMMUNICATION is...
Read moreOne would think that a packing and shipping company would know that it’s not a good idea to ship a TV with styrofoam peanuts as the main source of cushioning and protection but apparently this company does not know that. I received an irreparably damaged TV due to unprotected corners being bent and split open. There was no added support to the corners, only the bubble wrap I delivered it in, some added foam sheets and peanuts that had drastically shifted during shipping, to the point where the box was misshaped due to their displacement. I turned it on and the picture was only a shattered marbled mosaic.
To make it worse, the owner hit on me and I rejected his advances. The package that shipped prior to my rejection arrived in perfect condition, the package that shipped afterward (this TV) did not. Coincidence perhaps? (it is laughable that so many men mistake a woman who makes friendly conversation as a clear sign that she wants to sleep with them. Hint: it’s not). Either way, I would not recommend this very...
Read moreI loved Carton & Crates and I recommended it to anyone looking to ship wine or art - they were a fantastic resource and have all of the packing materials. I was beyond disappointed when I stopped in last week to ship 6 bottles of wine in a wooden display box from Napa to Indiana and was change $367. When I called and sent several emails to inquire about the costs I received no reply. I'm in the industry and understand the additional cost to ship to Indiana (special license required), purchase insurance, pack and ship in a special format but I was charged a 134% premium with no explanation and there were 2 separate UPS charges, both well over $100 but only 1 tracking number. My advice is to get a quote before you ship - also check pricing at other shippers there are several really good specialty shippers in...
