I'm waiting for my bil at dr. I'm hungry. Its lunch. Let's do chinese. Google map... Dragon Valley- YAY! Szechuan style chinese food is my favorite. I like hot oil! They don't have hot oil wontons/dumplings though.. I was kinda sad. But I got the Mongolian beef lunch plate with Chow Mein. Roughly 13$. The lobby is nice. Large. I walked Into place my order and not even ten minutes later it was done. I took pictures- FIRST SIGHT IMPRESSION- Its beautiful food. When I opened the box, I was disappointed at the light color of my chow mein. I loved seeing the red peppers, chunks of garlic and green onions. The color of the beef is caramelized perfectly. It smelled amazing. FIRST BITE IMPRESSION- I thought the beef was a bit salty .. but honestly.. it paired perfectly with the chow mein. Which was not as bland or plain as it first looked. It has bean sprouts, cabbage & green onion in abundance. The beef had at least 5 fire roast red peppers, green and white onions, large chunks of garlic compliment the tender sliced marinated beef. A better cut is used here than most chinese restaurants in the same price range- or, the chef can marinate the hell out of a bad cut... but I don't think so. It's got SPICE & HEAT! But- its tolerable. Little red pepper flakes enhance the experience. LASTING IMPRESSION- I like it a lot! I might suggest either the water not judge on a look.. or to the chef- spruce up the chow mein in appearance. Pepper flakes... a purple cabbage instead of green.. either way- the food by taste is amazing. Whenever I'm hanging out here in the City of Napa- I his is where I'll be stopping for lunch! Can't wait to try...
Read moreCame in to dine in for 2 on 7/3/2024, one of the hottest weeks so far of this year. Today was 102 degrees. My first reaction coming in was WOW it is so hot in here! After 5 minutes or sitting down my company and I were dripping sweat having to fan ourselves with the menus. It was at least 90 degrees inside the building. I would think for such a hot day and a nice looking restaurant that they would welcome their customers to a nice and cool atmosphere.
All the food came out fairly fast. The food tasted good and the portions were decently sized. Not much of a big deal, but our sweet and sour pork was poorly tossed that lots of the pork were still dry (unsauced) and the vegetables in each dish were a tad under cooked.
We had to get up twice to walk to the front for refills for our waters and had to get up to ask for the check and boxes. For being the first and only table dining, I expected these basic customer service skills to be excellent.
The waitress asked us if we wanted our dishes in separate boxes, which we did… but she ended up splitting the food up into 2 different portions for 2 different people. We also physically saw the waitress accidentally spill lots of our food which was a loss for us. Once we got our boxes back they were dirty and smeared with sweet n sour sauce.
We asked if they can help us out with a discount or something off for our food being wasted. They said they couldn’t help us because the owner was not in the building.
I normally don't write reviews, but we spent about 100$ to have such a poor all...
Read moreIf I order shrimp fried rice, I'd like a decent portion of shrimp in it. If I order beef chow mein, I'd like a decent portion of beef in it. Each order item is EASILY $10 & up. $10+ FOR ONLY vegetables & rice/chow mein noodles; the CHEAPEST ingredients? If you place a "PREMIUM" meat/seafood ONLY order be prepared to pay the price. But again, the SIZE of meat/seafood does not justify the much higher price.
That's my point with this restaurant. The food is good. VEGANS must REALLY love this place!
Please, put a DECENT amount of the main ingredients; beef, chicken, shrimp, pork into your orders & I will you give you 4 ⭐. Now, I must SIFT & SEARCH for pieces of meat/seafood. But don't increase your price! It's too high already for Chinese cuisine.
Dragon Valley is fortunate (wise?) to be in Napa where there is NOT MUCH competition for Chinese restaurants. I doubt they would remain in business very long if they were located in SF. I grew up in SF. I am Asian/Pacific Islander. ALL Asian restaurants are in FIERCE COMPETITION in the City. Napa chinese restaurants only serve what Napa residents actually "believe" is Chinese food. It isn't. Regardless, WHERE'S...
