AMAZING SUNSET! The view from the end of the pier as the sun sets into the sea is a spectacular sight and lights the sky up with some fantastic colours. Make sure you get there early though as there are not an abundance of spaces in a short range. But absolutely fine as long as you dont mind a few minute walk in the evening air. The pier is normally busy, especially in the summer months however is it definately a spectacle you need to see whilst staying in Naples, FL. During the day the beach and pier are lively with both animals and beach goers. In the summer months the pier is normally full of fisherman trying to avoid the local wildlife of rays, dolphins and pelicans. Whilst the beach is fairly busy around the pier and immediately after any of the parking lots. However if you are prepared to take a short walk you are able to find very deserted parts of the beach to set up camp. On the pier itself there is a small shop with bait, sodas and a few snacks however come prepared as there are no other shops within a small walking distance but less than 10 minutes if you don't mind taking the car. Overall a brilliant beach; lots of wildlife, clean and friendly atmosphere and brilliant views!...
Read moreSo, we did the "Miami Vice" thing and drove through the Florida Everglades from Miami, top down in our convertible, listening to Phil Collins and looking like grim Tubbs and Crocket figures. It was a blast! And you get to know that the Everglades are a wasteland, full of crocks and tons of flies, but not much else. Reaching Naples and the late afternoon is a joy! This small west-facing city must be a pensioners' heaven. There are so many fishing boats in the canals, the palm-covered coves of green-lawn buildings, palm trees and many off-site and no-access gate communities. Naples Pier is sitting pretty, facing some 200m straight out west into the Mexican Gulf. The beach is wide, orange-yellow this time of day and full of families, dogs, friends and parties playing in the later afternoon sun. Some hobby fishermen believe they own the "US-right" to use up all the pier for their fishing gear, but we managed to get the infamous sunset shots anyhow! It's a beautiful spot for sunsets – there's nothing else much to do here,...
Read moreWent here for the first time this past week, and it is one of the most relaxed and beautiful piers on the west coast of Florida! Although they are doing extensive repairs at the end of the pier, it is still a great site to see if you are in the vicinity! Also the beach is great, it is not a party here and it is very family friendly. The water is warm year round, the sand is soft, and the beach is quiet and relaxing. Its the gulf, so the water is calm about 90% of the time. And they serve a quick bite to eat at the end of the pier! I'm not sure how long the construction will be going on, but it still is a site to see! There is ample parking in front of it, and also a large lot right across the street from the beach/pier. Important to note, there is no charge for entering the Pier! Many great restaurant and shops located minutes away, so if you are in the area come check it out! I cannot wait for my next visit down here, always look forward to coming to the pier...
