I have been shopping at Market Basket since I was a little kid back in Lowell MA. Great store good prices solid food. However I just needed to say their attitude really does suck. I have never gone into one of their stores and ask for help and gotten someone happy and smiling and willing to help. They're always cranky and always seem bothered by the fact that you ask them for help. And I am talking about the management. People walking around in those red coats supervising all their underlings. I try to avoid having to talk to them if I can. Every time I have to though they never disappoint, it's always the same attitude. and heaven forbid if you have to return something or exchange it for another item, I went in to do my weekly shop and I had two items I needed to bring back because we bought the wrong items. A can of no salt green giant peas, and Market Basket sandwich bags that did not have the zip on them. They totaled a little over $3, I did not have my receipt since I bought these items two weeks ago, I told them I was there to do food shopping, and I just bought the wrong items.....they had a little hushed private conversation out of the reach of my ear while they stared at me like I was a felon, discussing what they should do in this circumstance since I did not have a receipt. They finally made a phone call to which the person on the other end asked a lot of questions LOL.... Then he hung up the phone and said to me " the best I can do is exchange these for the exact same items". Which was really fine because that's what I was there to do was food shop so I was buying more canned goods and I was buying the correct sandwich bags with a zip things on them anyway. I understand that people shoplift all the time, but I think I look like a pretty trusting person, I have my pocketbook in one hand and I have a grocery cart in the other AND it's $3 worth of items..OMG. The initial shopping experience, from selecting items to navigating the store, was satisfactory. However, our experience soured when we decided to order burgers from the market kitchen, which took an unexpectedly long 30 minutes to prepare. While there are some commendable employees in that department, we were unlucky with our encounter today.
Upon reaching the checkout, we were greeted by inexperienced staff, including a young bagger who appeared to be untrained. Upon returning home, we discovered that our bread had been flattened and our yogurt punctured, causing it to spill inside the bag. To our dismay, the situation only worsened when we attempted to enjoy our burgers, which were severely undercooked, almost raw in the middle. This raises serious concerns about food safety, and we advise against visiting the market kitchen, as it appears they disregard the health and well-being of their customers.
In an effort to prevent others from falling ill, I contacted an employee to inform them about the issue with the burgers. However, I was unable to speak directly with the manager, as they were unwilling to transfer my call. The response from the employee lacked any apology, and instead, they suggested that I return to the location to provide evidence before they would consider remaking the burger. TODAY after shopping here everyday for lunch was absolutely discussed and will not come to this location any more for anything. I came for a grilled piece of chicken and what the young woman behind the counter gave me that would cost me 5$ was ridiculous!! It just was 2 small pieces of scraps it looked like to me.I asked for another to be cooked she refused and ignored me and so did the other employee that was working with her. It was until Jerrod another employee that's been there LONGER WHO RECOGNIZED ME fixed my situation, I even asked for a manager and when he came he never spoke to me he went to the back counter and complained about a woman who was complaining smh just sad even the management is lacking. It's 11/8/2024 8:15pm went into the same location and still very disappointing 😞 I came for a quick bite from the heat tray and what I got was just horrible😞😞😞this place should be ashamed of their selves for not checking behind the food service employees.
