Kind of disappointed in the experience here. Wanted to buy a card that they had listed for $21 and there was a market listing for the same card for $16 on TCG Player (Full art trainer, near mint condition). $5 for a ~$20 card is a 25% difference.
I asked if they would be willing to meet, because even after shipping the card was $19 on TCG Player after tax and shipping.
Wouldn't meet. I still ended up buying ~$90 worth of cards but kind of shocked they won't go to market price on a relatively cheap single that according to their own buy prices would still be making at least a $6 profit margin.
But, market price is still good enough for sealed product, of course, because that's going for 200% MSRP minimum.
The lady at the front was really nice though but I won't be back. There are plenty of other card shops in the area that aren't trying to nickel and dime every customer.
To the owners response, you act like I didn't pay $90 on other cards. I should have just walked out. I showed him exactly what I had in my cart for checkout and I just asked you to price match.
You not allowing your staff to price match (which provides a bad experience to the customer) is on YOU. I've actually discussed with multiple other game shops in the area about my experience with you.
It turns out you actually have a pretty declining reputation in the local scene ever since management changed. If you're willing to lose a customer who has an average spend of $3500 / mo. over $4 on a liquid single that you bought high and crashed, that is a business expense.
I DID end up buying that card from TCGPlayer. That card is NOW WORTH $13 on TCGPlayer, so hopefully it's not still rotting in your shelves.
I won't be back. If you really care about your employees, maybe you should TRUST them to make sound judgment calls, because your business practices will turn what was once a nice card shop into the ground. Good customer service and experience is what will keep your lights on. Maybe try to diversify if singles aren't profitable. I don't know what to tell you but acting like $4 on a $90 sale is going to ruin the business is...
Read moreDecent shop but note that they will price gouge. I typically will pay MSRP at FLGSs and not just buy cheaper at Amazon or online stores to support local. I don't live super close to any so I drive to here, Keep, Tabletops, TNLG and a couple other things in Murfreesboro and Franklin for cards and boardgames. But I'm now cutting down where ill go based on pricing things well above MSRP and this is likely to be one of the cut places after another instance of it. Full disclosure it's been a bit since here based on a few other things but the final straw was recently. Most ppl will probably be fine , regulars I am sure are fine. Their bread and butter folks will likely be fine. But other options are there for those who pop in once a month and make large purchases of games and cards at game stores.
Reply: it's a game for kids. Jacking prices up 50-100% above retail is the same as the scalpers. You price out families doing this. We drove to Clarksville for an event at MSRP with my kid. Tabletops in town also didn't gouge and had their small allotment of product well into Saturday and this isn't the first time at cave prices were above retail for things. I get that there are a-holes out there reselling... But we aren't at full retail release yet but y'all prices the learn to play very high which wasn't a buy all the stock kind of event anyway. It was one deck and you had to play it. You won't miss our money and that's fine, it's just principle. Tabletops will get the $ we spend for our kid for Pokemon and Lorcana in the future because they didn't gouge and Keep will too for recommending us to them knowing they...
Read moreFirst time experience here. Worst experience ever at an LGS. Paid for a draft and product. Never got to draft and never got my product. Here's why.
Just moved to the aren and I am looking for a new home store for MTG, and this will not be not be it. I showed up 4 min late to draft after calling and talking informing them I would be slightly late. I had multiple friends there vouging for me, and when I walked in the door they had just opened the first pack making the first pick. Waiting those 4 minutes would have not changed the night for anyone. Reservations for a table at dinner gives a 15min grace periods. Reservations for a hair cut gives a 15 min grace periods. Appoints at a hospital gives a 15 min grace periods. Why can't this place?
Here is a hospitality lesson for the owner: customer is late you have a store to run this is understood, but good hospitality makes it right by offering them the 3 packs for draft they already paid for. Offers them store credit because this is their first time here. Instead, you gave away their seat and couldn't wait 4min because you said it was store policy. Store policy also said hard cap at 24 people yet there was 30 people, so you already went away from that. This choice of yours was a 4min decision to get an extra $20 and as such have lost yourself 4 return customers who spend hundreds on MTG. We play in all RCQs, play multiple formats, buy boxes, buy singles, and bring in new players. A small amount of hospitality would have made you more...
