My favorite park on the planet, Hansen Park has a bit of everything tucked into a quiet little suburb of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. A phenominal throwback 12 hole disc golf course featuring classic saucer style baskets is the main attraction! The playground area was updated around 2012 and is great for the little ones! Gaga ball pit was added nearby a few years later. A nice large gazebo next to the playground is great for a picnic or barbeque, or the building is available for rental. Tennis courts, baseball fields, hockey rinks, and a volleyball court are all here as well. Walking paths from all sides of the park converge near the creek and wind along through tall trees all the way around a large pond, making for a beautiful place to walk...

The course has different baskets than the typical chains. I hated them when I first played there, but after getting used to them, it really just gives the course needed difficulty. Unfortunately the first hole, last hole, and hole 5 become a swamp in the spring and whenever it rains. I'd recommend waterproof boots.
Beyond the course, my favorite parts of the park are its two sheets of ice for skating (in the colder months), and the very peaceful walking path that...
Read moreDefinitely a stroll type of park. Would be great for families with small kids who can't walk far. I brought my dogs at dawn for a short walk of the perimeter of the park on a hot day. As we drove into the park a red fox crossed the road with a squirrel in its mouth. Not many birds and I did not see any waterfowl, not even mallards. Pretty flowers around the lake: a mix of native and invasive species. Plenty of trees for shade around most of the park. The north part is lake while the southern part has picnic tables, playground, ice hockey rink (I presume in the winter) tennis courts and...
