I have had three BMWs serviced at Eurotech over the last decade. A 1999 M Coupe, 2002 M3 and 2013 328i M Sport. They have done an excellent job front he start, and always took time to explain any issues or potential issues. All pricing was explained up front as best as possible, and they are very adamant about their warranty with the work they do. They guaranteee their work, and only use genuine OEM or OEM approved parts. My cars have always been taken care of, with no damage or signs of abuse or neglect. They have a great customer waiting area, with amenities including coffee drinks, TV, couches and WiFi. The staff has always been very personable, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They also have loaner cars, which are brand new vehicles. I know for a fact that all techs are highly training and receive ongoing specialized training. I will always go back to Eurotech for my non-warranty service.
While either waiting for my car, standing at the service counter, or reading discussions online, I have seen and read complaints that come up. Complaints listed with the low reviews are typical in that customers fail to understand policy and procedure. I have previously worked in the auto industry, and can attest to most complaints and poor reviews likely being the customers being the problems.
First, Eurotech charges standard rates, and is not a cut-rate service. You are going to pay for quality work, but with that comes a warranty and assurance that quality components were used. The rate that they quote you is a legitimate rate. I have seen people try to argue shop rates with them, and it is because they refuse to understand what they are paying for, including loaner cars and a warranty on all work and parts. If you can “get it done cheaper somewhere else”, that’s not going to get Eurotech to lower their rates to satiate you. Quality companies don’t have to cut their rates just to keep customers happy. As a long time customer, I freely acknowledge and respect their pricing and terms.
Second, you as the customer need to be aware of what car you own, and the issues that specific model and year have. Certain models or model years are known to be expensive, problematic/unreliable or labor-intensive. If you have problems, or are upset at the cost of parts or labor, consider whether it’s your culpability for owning that vehicle in the first place. E65 7 series and Mini owners especially.
Third, Eurotech will not use parts that you provide. They will only use parts that they order, which are OE components. In the case of aftermarket parts and tuning, they will work with you to get certain components directly from a distributor to their shop, but you have to do it their way so that they can assure quality control measures are in place.
Fourth, they will not do any service that violates state or federal emission laws.
Fifth, they know what they are talking about when they make recommendations, and only recommend service when they feel it is necessary or will soon be necessary. They don’t try to upsell or do unnecessary work just to jack up the bill. They have enough waiting customers that they don’t want to hang on to your car any longer than necessary. The staff are trained in the quirks and intricacies of each model of vehicle they specialize in, and they know what to look for, what will fail, and what won’t. If you are not an expert in your specific model and year of vehicle, don’t argue with them because you read something on an online forum or because you think someone can do it better for cheaper; which they can’t.
Sixth, if your car isn’t a newer model, it’s going to have problems pop up. When one thing goes wrong, it’s not uncommon for more things to follow with older or higher mileage vehicles. That’s not the shop’s fault.
Lastly, You will pay for all service and labor. They don’t do inspections or work for free, nor should they. They are upfront about all of...
Read moreI brought in my 2007 BMW X3 that I purchased a few weeks ago and I told the receptionist what I knew the issue to be that I needed fixed. I just wanted an oil change and a to have my sunroof lowered down, as I wasn’t informed by the previous owner that I should never open the sunroof to begin with. After speaking to the receptionist I was told a price of $350 for everything that I asked. I explained what I did and I just wanted it down. With this place I guess you have to tell them that you don’t want a diagnostic test done. Anyways, after a day of having the vehicle the call me to tell me that the emergency lever didn’t work after hooking the car up to try to use a machine to get it back down. But I explained that the tracks were broken and it did not go down on its own, that’s why I brought it in. So the call to me was asking for another 200 to do it the old fashion way and they were successful. When I came in to pick up the car, I asked for an explanation and then two guys were there, I’m guess the two bigger gentleman that worked at this shop, to stand in the lobby while they explained their process. I explained to them that I told the receptionist what I would like done explicitly and that I was aware the lever or cable to manually drop the sunroof was not working. I had two mechanics look at it prior to bringing it in and I just wanted to have the sunroof closed. After I voiced my concern, the gentleman giving me the explanation took off 50 bucks, yet, I felt like it doesn’t take an hr to determine a cable is not working and my initial request was to get it to closed. After our conversation, I proceeded to pay and he started making comments as if there was an issue with the card I was paying with, but on my screen, everything went through in the first swipe. He asked me a second time if my card was working and I just paused and waited and for him to say whatever and asked for a paper receipt. Upon the gentleman being the receipt to me, I reached my hand out and he slings the receipt on the counter instead of putting it in my hand. He proceeded to give me their closing statements that they give as a business and puts to discount cards to do business with them in the future. I pick the items up off the counter and head out to my vehicle. When I come out, my vehicle is knocking loud and it was not doing that before I brought it in, it ran very quiet up until that point. I didn’t want to mention it to them and have further issues, so I took the vehicle and started heading home. Before I get home, the vehicle started over heating and I had to leave the car there for about 40 mins, and came and finally drove it the rest of the way, about a 24 min ride altogether. I will say that this location isn’t the one to hang their hat on. Maybe the maplewood, woodbury location is better but I do not believe I will take my vehicle to this location ever again. Sad to have to give this type of review when I was referred to them by a friend’s mechanic but this was my experience. Hope this helps someone else out in a similar situation. Tell them up front that you do not want a diagnosis if you have already done the work...
Read moreEuroTech was new to me. I'm very picky about where I take my cars for service, which is usually the dealership because of the reputation and reliability, but sometimes they don't diagnose properly or want to charge a lot more.
The staff at front desk were nice and polite but not as friendly as other people stated in the reviews.
First, they verified all systems working, radio, lights, wipers, took pictures of every angle of the car, then I was asked if I was going to wait, or the estimated time my car's diagnosis was going to be completed. In the meantime, I decided to wait in the waiting room, pretty cool place to hang or if you work remotely, they have desks with privacy walls, WiFi, TV, coffee, snacks, etc. Pretty nice experience if you ask me.
Now regarding my car, I was told upfront how much the diagnostics were going to be, and then called and email the estimate waiting for my approval before they started any repairs. I've never seen such a professional and detailed report of what's going on the automotive industry, perfectly broken down, pictures included, I love this! Same quality and confidence as aerospace industry.
I took my car in for a flapping noise at the front right side and oil leaks that lead to excessive consumption. 1 gallon in 1 month.
Not only they diagnose the problem but did a full inspection of the suspension which included springs, shocks and struts, bushings, ball joints, steering components.
They did a full oil leak inspection too in order to accurately address the problem and perfectly detailed the issue and wrote down all recommendations and reasoning behind them, which made me feel confident not only that they know what they're doing, they want their customers to be safe and come back.
They included a video with the technician that was assigned to my car, which I really appreciated it, to put a face on who's doing the work.
Finally they did a 22 point vehicle inspection which included, damages and scratches, road test for alignments, wipers/washers, heat system, malfunction indicator lights, horn, noises, vibrations, scheduled maintenance, under the hood for lightning system, belts/hoses, engine air filter, cabin air filter, washer fluid, batter, fluid levels, the undercarriage, brakes, steering, suspension, tire condition, tire pressure, drive line leaks, axle, drive shafts, exhaust, brake hoses.
The repairs they did come with a 36K mile warranty or 3 years, whichever comes first. I took my car in on a Wednesday and was told that it was going to be ready on Friday, maybe even Monday depending on lead time for replacement parts. They called me on Thursday afternoon with the news my car was ready for pick up.
I would definitely recommend this mechanic if you're worried about quality and price and you're driving a...
