If I could choose 0 Stars rather than one I would certainly do so. I would not recommend anyone come to this Theatre. There were several bands playing. I was in the third row in the center seat. It was the best seat that I could get when they first came out. A woman in the row in front of me stated that she gets free tickets because she donates to the theater. During the first two bands we were allowed stand in front of the stage and watch them. They then decided that only the first two rows would be given this privilege. This also confused me. My ticket was row A? Although I paid the same amount of money as the people in the 2 rows ahead of me only the first two rows were allowed. So I chose to do what is right and speak for the people who chose to pay more to enjoy the bands. I spoke with the manager I asked her if the people in the two rows ahead of me had paid more for their seats. She said she couldn't answer that. She said it's a fire code and we can only let the first two rows in. So what I told her was that I will count the empty seats in the first two rows and if there are more people in front of the stage then there are empty seats obviously there's a problem. As the next band took the stage there were more people standing in front of the stage then there were empty seats. So if the manager was right, they did in fact violate the safety code. So the two security men that were blocking the entrance were choosing who they would prefer to have there. When you choose people who donate to your theater rather than the people who pay you for seats you have a serious problem with how you run your business. There are many theaters in New Jersey and a close ride to New York City. I would suggest going to one of those theaters...
Read moreWhere do I begin…I took my kids yesterday to see the nutcracker at the state theater. First, when I purchased the tickets I checked the safety protocol, saw that PCR or the vaccine card are required for ages 12 and above. Fine. A week before the show I got the email that for the nutcracker the requirements are for ages 2(!!) and above. So I had to take my kids to have them tested with PCR (had I known before, probably wouldn’t buy the tickets). At the theater, the restrooms are gender neutral…wtf…I don’t feel comfortable taking my kids to such restroom, there is no such thing as gender neutral, but I guess the theater wanted to be in trend with the latest political climate. No bars, no concessions, if you’re thirsty you just suffer through the show, I guess. I got box tickets, which considered good seats, but not in New Brunswick. Instead of seating on theater velvet usual chairs they put regular dining chairs in the boxes, uncomfortable and just weird. The ledge was obstructing the view so I had to make waves and had them switch our seats to whatever they had available (thankfully they cooperated). But the cherry on the icing of the cake was the balet…all the dancers wore masks and the orchestra was so quiet we could hear the footsteps and jumps of the dancers all the way from row W, experience ruined!!! Needless to say we were out shortly after the intermission. Not sure I’ll be back, although I had purchased flex tickets before the pandemic and now kind of screwed. I take my kids to shows once a month on average and this was the worst experience I...
Read moreA very cool theater with unique architecture. It seats 915. The floor is slanted to help everyone have a nice view. We sat by Door 2, Row G, Seats 6 and 8. Two seats off the aisle and 7 rows from the stage. Our seats were great. We had an amazing view of the stage. It is a big stage so many musicians can fit on it and easily move around the stage together. We saw Howard Jones and Haircut One Hundred. The sound was very good and anywhere you sat you should be able to hear the performers. We very much enjoyed our show and will definitely look for other shows to enjoy here in the future. The theater is very cool and has nice charm about it. There is a balcony too. Snacks and beverages and adult beverages can be purchased and enjoyed during the shows. Convenient and clean bathrooms are in the lobby. The theater does not have parking BUT there is street parking and many parking garages. We parked at the Hyatt Regency Hotel parking garage. It was a short walk to the theater. We paid $20 for parking for 4 to 6 hours. There are many neat restaurants around the theater to try. We also enjoyed looking for all the many art pieces of Seward Johnson from Grounds for Scuplture placed around the sidewalks. We didn’t have much time to look before the show but we found 3. Someone at the show said he found 12. Very cool!!!! Many neat buildings surround the theater as well as artwork. This is definitely a must visit venue for enjoying a musical band up close and personal rather than from far away and lost...
