Wow. Where do I even begin with my deeply unsettling experience? On May 2, 2025, I entered this establishment as a first-time Black female customer. At first glance, the salon appeared clean and modern, and my visit started off pleasantly.
However, things quickly took a disturbing turn. After being told by Winnie, the nail technician that it would be cheaper to pay in cash, I decided to walk to the Chase Bank located just 200 feet awayāat HER suggestion. To my shock and discomfort, the nail technician followed me out of the salon and stood outside the bank, peering through the windows as if I were attempting to flee!!! She then escorted me back to the salon, treating me as if I were a criminal, not a paying customer. I was utterly humiliated!!
This experience was offensive, and completely inappropriate. When I raised concerns, the nail tech shifted blame to the manager, while the manager deflected responsibility onto previous customersā behavior. I was profiled and disrespected in a manner no customer should ever have to experience. I was almost to the point of tears explaining why I thought this was disgusting.
Their attempt to smooth things over with a $20 discount on a future visit was SO insultingāas if I would ever return. There were countless more respectful and professional ways to handle the situation, but they chose to treat me with suspicion and hostility instead.
If you are black, I would suggest going to another place. I truly believe its because of the color of my skin as to why I was denigrated in such a horrific manner.
Edit: Management decides to double down in stalking customers. Be blessed, and I hope your business lasts with the way you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis set is cute and had so much potential. The first time I came to this salon I had a good experience but this time I was not too satisfied with the results, a few moments later after getting my nails done I noticed there were some curated hairs/bristles from the nail brush applicator alongside uneven bumps and a base color thatās too light on the French nail designs, some of the dots are also a little foggy. During the preparation, while filing my nails, one of the employees got a bit too close to my skin, and it did cause some discomfort. I am a bit disappointed and donāt think this set was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time having my nails done at 188 Refresh. The first time is always nerve wrecking, but I had a fantastic experience. Mandy did a great job with my SNS/ Dip powder(natural nail no tips). Her patience and attention to detail was great. Although it was busy and later in the day, she did not rush to finish, which I appreciated. Every detail she would ask if I liked it and if I didn't she would be happy to correct it. So, I'd definitely recommend Mandy for a dip powder. Also, Carson is awesome too. He was very kind and that...
