Three stars because the workers are usually kind and the gym is typically clean. When I called to ask for help the man on the phone was very helpful and tried to get as much information for me as possible. I was a member for years and I stopped going. I was contemplating joining Blink again. The last time I went to Blink I stopped going for health reasons and ease of commute so didn’t go for months while paying. I tried to get my money back which they did not do but let me leave. Now I am in a different location and blink is 5 minutes away from my house and the gym I go (LA FITNESS) is 30 mins from my house. Trying to cut back on the commute I decided to look into blink. KEEP THIS IN MIND BEFORE YOU SIGN UP!! I think the gym is one of the more affordable gyms but it comes with a catch. So the problem is not with the gym itself it’s with Blink as a company. Once you sign up you are locked into a membership with them and I am glad I did my research before signing up again. It costs about $100 to leave and you have to give them 45 day or proof of why you’re leaving. And the proof is on moving 25+ miles away (which means moving out of the tristate area basically), a note from your dr saying you have a debilitating condition , or death. That being said if you need to cancel a gym membership you’re probably not in a situation where you might want to deal with extra difficulty of canceling. So I recommend asking about paid in full memberships. You can pay up to a year in advance. And in the summer they do like 3 months for high schoolers. That way on a yearly basis you can renew without feeling so locked...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep concern regarding the conduct of the club manager at Blink Fitness in Springfield Gardens, known as “AJ or jay (male African American) His behavior has been consistently unprofessional, discourteous, and wholly unbecoming of someone in a managerial position. He demonstrates a troubling lack of interpersonal skills and repeatedly engages in behavior that could be interpreted as discriminatory toward individuals of different racial backgrounds.
Rather than fostering an inclusive and respectful environment, AJ’s demeanor is confrontational and immature. He appears to operate under the misguided belief that his position renders him above reproach, often resorting to threats and hostile language when challenged. This kind of behavior not only reflects poorly on him but also severely undermines the values and public image of Blink Fitness as a whole.
It is profoundly disappointing that an individual exhibiting such a lack of professionalism and emotional intelligence has been entrusted with the responsibility of managing a facility that serves a diverse community. I strongly urge Blink Fitness to re-evaluate its hiring and supervisory practices to ensure that individuals placed in leadership roles are held to the highest standards of conduct and...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal member at this Blink Fitness location for years, but I recently had an experience that was deeply disappointing and uncomfortable. I encountered a male manager named Jay who enforced the check-in policy in a way that felt unnecessarily aggressive and intimidating.
I understand the importance of scanning in and I’ve always followed that policy—and when staff are helping someone else at the desk, I usually wait or return after heading to the locker room. This has never been a problem before. However, Jay chose to chase me down, wait outside the women’s locker room for me to come out, repeat himself after I acknowledged him, and then follow me to the scanner to confirm I had scanned in.
As a woman, this kind of behavior from a male staff member felt invasive and threatening. When I raised my concerns in writing, I received a response from Jay that failed to acknowledge how his conduct might have made a member feel unsafe. He focused solely on policy and offered no apology or recognition of the discomfort he caused.
I have never had an experience like this with a Blink crew member and hope Blink Fitness takes steps to better train its managers on respectful, non-intimidating ways to interact...
