Brooklyn Public Library - Sunset Park Branch — Attraction in New York

The atmosphere is way too loud for a library, often with no seating available. The computers are very busy, especially on weekends and they're often being used by kids to play games. I had intended to use a laptop to do homework, but there were none available. I waited for someone to return a laptop yet a librarian chided me from her seat for checking on the laptops. "This isn't how this works," she sassed with a deeply unpleasant attitude. I feel this is unfair, especially since I had waited near an hour for a laptop. Another librarian had already told me to wait for someone to return one. When someone did return one, I merely followed instructions yet I was condemned for wanting to use this technology that everyone else had access to.

Another unpleasant experience is when I wanted to open my library card. I was unsure of the process and went to their desk to ask for assistance yet I was met with borderline hostility. They only asked if I had brought an ID and when I said no, they dismissed me.

During my other interactions with their librarians, it feels like they are putting themselves above me. There was only one time in which I had a fairly pleasant interaction but they were severely understaffed, so I had to wait a long while to receive proper assistance.

The library is too small for the community you have to come way before 10 am to secure a seat with your laptop only 3 computers for people who can t afford it.the library employee are very courteous and polite.the Chinese took over that library and used it like a staycation ,/ playground for their children because I'm guessing they can t afford a baby sitters it s really annoying when u ll come to study or focused on your business on your laptop seeing a bunch of Chinese children playing around running around us..they should put them separate so it won t disturb the people who really used the library to read and their research.some people doesn t even care they meet their friends and have a chat all day without getting concern about their neighbors who is studying.somr people come to make their personal phone call and care about their daily business life.when I enter the library I thought I was in China not in America no offense to the people who used and overused it.for me it s abusing of free service.that s all....hopefully the employees will suggest an upgrade and a different layout for the respect of the one who show up yoread and study...
