BLACK MOLD and BARE, SCUFFED WALLS and lots of repairs needed The owner of the hotel spends little to no money on maintenance, and owes any positive rating herein to the lovely front desk staff (Samantha and Ariana) who were placed in extraordinary circumstances to compensate for the hotel’s many shortcomings. Upon arrival, our card key did not work twice - requiring us to use a good ol’ fashioned metal key. Having no back-up help, with guests waiting to check-out and check-in, Samantha walked back and forth twice to our 5th floor room, with no working elevator due to the fire department responding to an alarm <cue the circus music>. Who needs a gym membership? There is zero art or decorations on the white, scuffed walls, cracked/split doors, black mold in the air vents, rubber gasket parts hanging out of the ceiling air conditioning unit, chipped/worn, basic furniture, and our room was the “*deluxe* suite”! Every time we opened the bathroom door, the tub panel popped out. Ah, the charm of old buildings <ala George Bailey’s staircase banister cap that consistently fell off in the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”>. To get to Brooklyn’s main drag, Myrtle Ave, we walked past a fish monger shop whose daily waste runoff spilled into the sidewalk where there was a dead rat. Delightful. All that said, the mattresses were as soft and luxurious as angel kisses. Probably won’t stay at the Condor again, though we are grateful to Ariana and Samantha for their tireless efforts to make our stay as ‘enjoyable’ as possible.

This hotel is so lovely. I cannot understand where the bad reviews are coming from at all. I'm a Harlem resident and I've stayed all over this city, only a few times in BK, mostly in Manhattan - and all hotels have chips and wear, even the hotels across the bridge that are much, much more expensive than this...the rooms are clean, the water DOES get hot, I was immediately shocked by how big the room was. Everyone said the balconies don't have views, well, when I checked in, I asked simply for a balcony, no view at all, and was kindly given the best view in the hotel, period...closest to the city. Only some of the balconies are close to the brick wall, and, when you understand how rare it is for your NYC hotel to have a balcony at all, it's much more appreciated...that's not a typical amenity especially at this price point. I got much more than I expected and immediately extended my stay right after I checked in. Kitchen, coffee pot, microwave, bathtub, fridge all included. Someone mentioned that the staff are all young/inexperienced...this is not at all the case. Thanks Condor for a great stay!
