This is one of the oldest train stations in the system and it looks like it. They have renovating/repairing the 5 train line as long as I can remember. The 5 barely runs if at all on the weekends, always due to construction, what the hell are they fixing is beyond me. The station is currently under "renovation" if that is what you want to call it. I hardly see any construction going on. So I see they put down heavy yellow painted plywood floors to cover up the possibly deteriorating concrete floors below??? As for 5 train service it runs well until there is a signal malfunction some where along the line (either at Dyre or E. 180th) and then your day is at a standstill or be like me and do that morning scramble trying to Uber to get to the nearest 2 train station or just go all the way into work in Manhattan. Many people in this area have cars but I feel bad for the people who depend on the 5 line to get to the...
Read moreThere is renovation work being done here, Rome was not built in a day, service isn't bad, I work all shifts, sometimes on Monday mornings after the weekend work, the trains are not on time, I'm a little leary coming to this station on Friday evenings to wait for the Shuttle bus, this is not the best area to be at 11:30 at nite; the street entrance is well lit, just like everywhere one has to be aware of their surroundings; during the day Dyre Avenue is bustling, there are some fast fiod places, a couple delis, a barbershop, a beauty salon, a hardware store right on the same block; the people in the booth are polite & informative, here again, where else can one ride from the top of the line all the way to Brooklyn for only $2.75, can't beat the price, maybe a little inconvenient at times, but they are...
Read moreNot exactly wheelchair accessable, the workers use the same dirty water. Buckets to mop the floors and they use that same mop on the seats amd thats IF they even clean. If people arent standing around the area smoking pot and hanging out around the store youve got hustlers pretending to be cab drivers ripping people off.the mta booth workers arent helpful, metro card machines frequently break and always say " no bills or single ride only" maybe some of us dont want to use a credit card to refill a metro card. they never wipe the railings on the stairs. Especially during 4pm rush its gross. They also seem to have a frequent delay problem.and dont even bother riding the 5 here on the weekends. Youll have to transfer to an overcrowded 2 train at 180 and sat nights the 5 operates as a...
