I recently visited Freedom Plaza to see the "Field of Light" exhibition, and it was a breathtaking experience. Spanning six acres in Manhattan, the installation features 18,750 lowlight, fiber-optic stemmed spheres that slowly change hues. Walking through the winding paths surrounded by these ethereal lights, with the city's iconic skyline and the East River waterfront as a backdrop, was truly mesmerizing.
Accessibility at Freedom Plaza is excellent. The paths are well-maintained and suitable for people in wheelchairs, ensuring that everyone can enjoy this beautiful display. The restrooms were clean and well-equipped, even featuring heated water, which was a nice touch.
Thanks to The Soloviev Foundation, entry to the "Field of Light" exhibition is free, making this stunning experience accessible to all. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and magical outing...
Read moreI look down at it everyday since it's right outside my apartment window and has been nothing but a vacant enclosed lot that they once in awhile use for when the UN assembles and then they set up tents and such for security etc. I've been here over 5 yrs in this apartment and we keep being told different things as to what will be built there and when. Personally I would love another open park concept to give some space to picnic, exercise, lay out etc. We do not have that luxury on the east side like they do on the west side with the all the parks like little island the redone piers or the man made beach. We have to go across town to bryant park, central park or to what I just mentioned. I do see the sign even now as I type that says Work in Progress: Alteration The Field of Light of Freedom Plaza. Which looks pretty neat and will be...
Read moreDefinitely a tax write off for the developer now that it is an “art installation”that only few go to and as far as I know that is barely open with exclusive free tickets and “sold out” entrance times although it’s never busy. Empty wasteland with a bunch of ugly electrical cables in an overgrown field next to the FDR. A real eye sore and truly disappointing when it could have been turned into something for the community without it needing to be attached to a building construction project/casino/hotel etc. Why security was hired for the site that is never open truly confuses me as they just stand around ominously in the cold or in the boiling heat. It floods when it rains and becomes a lake. Can’t see this site ever becoming anything good for the neighborhood and encapsulates the corruption that goes on in...
