We were so floored by the experience we had with Maison May. We knew we were in for something wonderful because of the many kind interactions we had with Catherine and Claudia leading up to the wedding day, but we could never have imagined the level of care we received.
Our wedding day saw a deluge of rain not seen for decades, causing floods and generally bringing most things screeching to a halt. Fortunately the beautiful Maison May building was unaffected and what’s more, Claudia reached out to us to let us know not to worry about set up, that their team was on it and everything would be ready for us whenever we were able to arrive. Fortunately we were not too delayed in the end but were amazed to find the space beautifully laid out and the Maison May bartender waiting with a drink to calm our nerves. Our initial plans of having the ceremony in the backyard were dashed by the weather but we found the parlor to be a truly lovely experience, with great acoustics and lighting for the ceremony.
Throughout the night Claudia and her team personally checked in on us often, even finding us on the dance floor if we were in need of something in particular. The food was delicious and plentiful, the drinks fresh and tasty and the atmosphere, just what we had hoped for. We were pitched that the space was meant to feel like a dinner party, and it did. What we didn’t know was that it would feel like some loving (and stylish!) family members had thrown the party for us.
We are so grateful that we chose Maison May as our venue, it felt incredibly special and warm despite the disastrous weather. We would not hesitate to recommend Maison May and would be so glad to return for...
Read moreWent to iCi for dinner last night and the service, wine, and food were out of this world.
We ordered a bottle of Mersault to enjoy with our meal, which was extremely good. The waitress was very catering, and we never had to wait for a refill.
To start we enjoyed an amazing Chicken Liver Pate with toasted brioche, apple cider reduction & sea salt, as well as Steamed Wild Mussels with hot peppers, salsa verde, garlic croutons & sparkling wine. The Pate was incredible and the apple cider reduction was lovely. My boyfriend whom typically does not enjoy Pate, gobbled this Pate up. The mussels had slivers of garlic, which were a nice change from the minced garlic you typically find with mussels. The mussels themselves were very big, very juicy and full of flavor.
For dinner we enjoyed Duck and Swordfish. The duck was very smokey flavored. It almost tasted like bacon.. it was very rich and very flavorful. The swordfish was also very good. Clean, light and fresh.
To finish, we enjoyed Pear Tatini with cinnamon whipped cream & toasted almonds, as well as Ricotta Fritters with vanilla mascarpone & orange zest. I am not usually a dessert person, but WOW, we could not help but finish each dessert...especially the Ricotta Fritters.
Amazing restaurant. Fresh and local ingredients. My new...
Read moreI was initially weary of having a wedding because I thought an NYC wedding, especially one so personalized, would be too expensive or require us to DIY the whole thing or both. Now that it's all said and done I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out. The venue is beautiful and comes with an extremely professional and knowledgable staff that know how to through a wedding in a Brooklyn brownstone. The food was amazing - friends are still talking about it - and the bartenders know how to make a fantastic drink (a couple of buddies had to call off work on Monday... after a Saturday wedding!!!!) I think the best part - besides the people - is that even within the limitations of a Brooklyn brownstone we were able to infuse the place with our style. The best compliment we got was from friends and family telling us that our wedding was very "us". I'm assuming that's a good thing and it was possible because of Maison May. I highly recommend this venue for an intimate, fun filled,...
