Just left the farm and I felt the need to warn parents about the farmhouse tour. I have frequented this farm for years, with my children. I was under the impression it is a kid friendly farm, UNTIL TODAY. Today I decided to wait and do the farm house tour. We went inside the farmhouse and sat down, my two CHILDREN sat next to each other and were among a couple other children with their families in the tour. As they sat next to me whispering to each other the TOUR guide decided to tell me during his initial speech that he is going to need my children to be completely quiet in order for him to continue his speech. At this point I asked my children to please whisper lower and the tour guide decided to make an example of my children by informing the audience that the farmhouse was built in the 1600's and that in those times children as young as 6 were expected to work. He proceeded to ask me how old my children were and I answered, 5 and 7 and he proceeded to say that at 7 years old if my son was told to stay quiet it would've been expected he LISTENED and stayed quiet. I was MORTIFIED and embarrassed. He proceeded to continue to lecture my children and at that point I stood up and left. I could not believe that at a farm where I bring my children to enjoy themselves and have a family day, a tour guide could belittle parents and make an audience with other children so uncomfortable. No more than 5 minutes later after t I left and sat outside a second parent followed who was told to leave as well with her 2 year old, because the tour guide said her daughter was too loud. This is a completely asinine way to treat parents and make them feel bad that their children are behaving LIKE CHILDREN. If they are not welcomed on this tour then I missed the NO CHILDREN sign outside. I will not be coming back with my children who are not welcomed...
Read moreThis was a terrible experience. I waited in line for the hayride for over 30 minutes, arriving well before 3:15 p.m. An incident occurred, and I had to step away briefly to look for my child. When I returned and explained the situation to the woman managing the line, she refused to let me back in. I was already the last one in line, so allowing me to return wouldn’t have affected anyone, especially since there were still seats available on the ride. She knew I had been in line for over 30 minutes, as she had been managing the line the entire time. It’s disappointing to see a lack of compassion; I hope if she has children one day, she’ll get the same treatment in situations like this when all a child wants is a simple hayride. And I hope her life remains black and white, with no one ever treating her with even a hint of compassion.
Additionally, both the website and phone information are misleading—they advertise closing at 5 p.m., but they were actually kicking people out at 4 p.m. Be cautious of how you might be treated here. The staff seemed completely unapproachable, worse than any other place I’ve been. Many people were asking for refunds after being kicked out early, only to be told they close at 5 p.m. Do not visit—this is the worst way to be treated while spending money on what’s supposed to be a happy holiday event.
I truly hope my kids can forget about this horrible experience. I usually don’t bother leaving comments, but this was unbelievable. DO NOT GO, PLEASE! You will be treated as if you’re attending a free event and trying to take advantage, when in reality, we paid nearly $100 for our family to get in....
Read moreIt truly pains me to do this, as I am a frequent Queens County Farm visitor, but I feel I should let any parents or health-sensitive individuals know about the incident I had with my family this week while at the farm. My family and I had a lovely day at the farm with wonderful hayrides, farm animals, and lovely weather; this was until a farm staff member with black curly hair in a ponytail, QCFM hat, and glasses who appeared to be middle-aged was smoking a cigarette while on the farm in front of my pregnant wife and 2 young children. I am aware that the farm is outdoors, but I was not aware that employees were permitted to smoke while on the farm (not outside the farm, within the farm gates!), let alone in front of guests faces. My wife kindly asked this woman to please move away from our child when smoking as he has asthma, and she was pacing back and forth by us. This woman responded with a laugh and mumbled swear words under her breath. She refused to give me her name and said that her identity was none of my business, but when I asked another staff member who was working outdoors, they kindly told me I may be referring to "Julie". My wife and I have brought out family here, friends here, and are continuously recommending this location because usually we have beautiful experiences. But if this is how the staff treats guests, I will be letting my friends and family know to take their business elsewhere; somewhere where staff members are not smoking near children, seniors,...
