Highly disappointed. Read many great reviews but our experience was not what we expected.
Short version: poor scedueling and inadequate equipment.
We showed up around 11:30am and while we were told there were many broken jet skis and it could be a wait we were told that we could rent two at 2pm. During this time, two separate groups of people who had been waiting there left asking for a refund because they were waiting too long. We asked if they were sure we would be able to rent at 2pm and the gentleman helping us responded "Yes. We have a tour coming back at 2" so we left to eat and returned at 1:30pm to sign nessary paperwork. That went smoothly and we were asked to wait on the dock for the jet skies. A half hour went by and we were told we had to wait an additional thirty minutes for a second jet ski because only one was ready. We only found this out because we were standing in the sun for 30 minutes and had to ask otherwise no one would have told us. At this time another tour was going out and 4 jet skies were given to people who just walked in. We asked for our money back and left. There was excuse after excuse given; from an online scheduling problems to many broken skies (No of which were being repaired while we were there). They...
Read moreI’m giving this a three star review for a few reasons. The staff was professional and kind to us, and we were lucky enough to go on a week day because we noticed weekends are extremely crowded, but you have to buy insurance and they put a hold for that on your card. The first “option” is pay $10 for a $250 hold on your card. Or put a hold on your card for $500. You can bring cash, and they will bring it right back to you after the experience, but we were not told about this when we signed up online and already payed $110.
They kind of just sprung it on us after we signed all waivers and papers to proceed with jet skiing.
I thought they would issue a return within 24 hours, but apparently it takes 3-7 business days.
As to the actual jet skiing, you literally go around in circles in a tiny portion of the bay. If you get too close to other boats and there is a even a scratch on the other boats, they take that $250 or $500.
I have never had to buy my own insurance jet skiing, and I thought we were be able to cover a lot more ground around the bay for pretty much spending $370- 610 for a 30 minute experience, riding around in circles.
Bring cash. You do the...
Read moreI scheduled an appointment for a jet ski on a Sunday. I even called the booking phone number prior to leaving and I was told it was light rain and I would still be riding the jet ski. I was informed one hour prior that the jet ski rental would have to be rescheduled due to weather conditions. I know weather conditions are not always predictable, but one hour notice? Come on. When you book a jet ski appointment you have to call a number not the jet ski rental place itself. Then I emailed Rockaway jet ski seem I was only given a partial refunded. Which I was able to rebook easy.
My only concern is don’t tell the customer one hour in advance the appointment is canceled. I live nearly three hours away. In addition I had a 300 appointment and arrived at 2:38PM. I got on the jet ski 3:43PM and got off at 4:30PM for an hour rental. Which most people don’t keep exact track of time. If I got the full hour I would give a five star review and let the other things slide. Don’t short the customer minutes off of the rental time. Not good business, I would try another place next time.
The ride was fun. If I pay around $162 for an hour rental I expect to get...
