I almost don't want to review this shop... I want to keep it as my own secret treasure, hidden away in the forest hills. However, I think that at the very least I owe the amazingly friendly staff a shout out.
The Tiny store is actually two stores in one, with more contemporary comics and toys in the front as soon as you enter and then vintage toys, and back issues located in a secondary location attached to that spot. The layout is amazing! Whoever designed the layout is brilliant and uses all the vertical 15-20' space in the primary shop, and it really is an eyeful. You can spend a good hour browsing every nook and cranny of what can't be more than 2500 sq ft, and yet for all the product and staff they have on site it doesn't feel crowded.
The space is amazingly clean and they have a organized system of doing things so that no one is blocking store traffic, for a tiny shop they could also potentially get away with ignoring the rules during reopening after COVID, but they don't! They are allowing 5 people in at a time, but the line also moves rather quickly as they are good about encouraging their guests to be swift in their purchase decisions by considering other customers.
I really like that the staff are equipped with masks and the register area has a plexi-glass shield, which tells me the owner takes care of their employees (as employees are investors of any business). The staff is extremely friendly, jovial and informative, plus they have a responsive social media presence, so if you are concerned about going into stores you can easily order online and pick up. They are able to quickly help you find what you are looking for and are respectful about space.
Another gem of the spot is the diorama on the outside of the building, showing a variety of superheroes and robots, which I saw some families posing in front of and taking pictures while they waited.
I quit Amazon after COVID began and I saw that their response was extremely lacking considering such a profitable company. It's made me search out little spots all around me and this place has definately become a...
Read moreSimply put, Royal Collectibles is one of my favorite places on Earth. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always helpful. They are never pushy, but always willing to go out of their way to assist you. I have been going there forever, (long before comics were as mainstream as they are today) and it has been amazing to watch them grow, expand, and evolve. I am rarely able to find time to shop there anymore, but whenever I can, it feels like coming home (go ahead, call me corny!). I highly recommend the store to anyone!
Comics: excellent inventory of current, silver and even golden age comics. Key issues, variants, and back issues to complete your collection. Excellent graded comics collection including "grails", signed editions, etc. They have a "pull list" service where you can provide them the titles you collect and they will set them aside every Wednesday for a discount! If they don't have something, they can usually retrieve it for you.
Graphic Novels: Great collection. If you're looking to get into comics, or brush up on some essential story lines before the latest movie hits, ask for advice and they will always have an on point recommendation.
Statues/busts/etc: They have a wide variety of high end statues and such in every price range.
Funko Pops: Amazing collection of even rare and hard to find "exclusives"
Toys: Current and vintage toys!
If it pertains to comics or collecting (read "Geek") culture they have it for you. Looking for sports collectibles? Visit their sports store on the same block!
It's easy to see I'm a Royal Collectibles Fan Boy. This "friendly neighborhood comics shop" is a haven for fans like me. Down to earth and "real", and always an enjoyable place to visit. I look forward to bringing my nephews...
