Van Cortlandt Library, Arline Schwarzman Building — Attraction in New York

The new library is spectacular. The staff from the old branch is still here, and I, for one, couldn't be happier about that.. great bunch of people. Someone mentioned a rude security guard? At the old branch, there wasn't any security. Never saw any sign of racism, EVER. If your son was disruptive, that's on you. Don't blame skin color for that, good grief. The new building does have security guards and they seem pleasant enough. In conclusion, new library is a breath of fresh air and Mr. P. along with Mr. J. run a tight ship and nonsense is not tolerated....

This branch of the NYPL has the absolute best people working there. The workers, namely Mr. Johnson and a young man named John, are so helpful and patient with all who enter. They will assist you when you need assistance. They have programs for the neighborhood school. Seniors go there before lunch to read the papers etc. Just a very nice welcoming place, thanks to the people who work there and we are all fortunate to have people of that caliber assisting...

I stopped by this library in order for my son to be part of their story time and unfortunately the volunteer that does it didn't come in that day. One of the staff member at this library made our experience so memorable. He opened the play area so my son could play with all the cool toys that they have available. My son had a blast!!! Thank you to that worker for your kindness. We will definitely be visiting this...
