I was born (1955) and raised there until 1970 on 106 & Lex. It has changed immensely. What a huge improvement. The playground has had a complete overall except for the very spacious handball and basketball courts. I returned this year for the 39th ANNUAL 106 STREET OLD TIMERS gathering. Which is held on the second Saturday of August. It was so much fun. The live music was amazing. And not some little band, closer to a small orchestra. I loved it and dance until I couldn’t anymore then rested and did it all over again. Not bad for a 67 year old…, All in all I had a ball. Now there is a sandbox and sprinklers for kids, swings, and space to run around, while parents can watch from new benches a few feet away. The other half of the park has full court basketball and handball courts. So many parks above 96 st are neglected, so it is wonderful to see how this park has been renovated. Great...
